Where does an entry's "score" come from and what exactly is it?

Hello!
There is a techinical explanation of how the scoring mechanism works tucked away in a footnote at <./>DontPanic-Explore#footnote1</.>. If the link doesn't take you straight there, you can find it at the bottom of the main text.
