Let's say, you've written a guide entry, and it's been accepted into the guide and when the whole process is over, it's there, it's finished... Then you discover you really should update a few things... What do you do?

Hi Tilly,
If there are small, quickly-correctable mistakes in an entry, you can leave a message on any of the Editors' spaces (Me, Ashley or Sam), and we'll see that it's corrected. This is really only for 'mistakes', not for simple additions or updates, which we haven't currently got the manpower to address.
For large-scale updates and additions to an Entry, have a look at the Update Headquarters: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A496451, which is run by Mikey. There's currently no 'official' scheme for updating Entries yet, but it's very close to the top of our 'to do' list.

I have found out that the Editors appreciate it if you provide the complete GuideML for those little corrections. Updating Entries in a larger scale is still impossible, but if you reduce it to a cut&paste job, you might get it done more easily.
I guess this works only for smaller corrections. If you replace large parts on an Entry, I'm afraid the whole content checking and moderating process has to start.
