Is there a page where I can access various other forums which might be up and running? ie a complete list. There also used to be a page where one could visit to see how many researchers there were (are) in various countries. The former question is the one I want answered the most. K

Not entirely sure what you're looking for. When you say "forums", are you talking about groups here on h2g2, or about active conversation threads, or what?

By "forums" do you really mean the other dna sub-sites, or specifically those for message boards? Eg:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/messageboards/newguide/messageboards_a-z.shtml
If you really do mean _all_ forums as in F-numbers, then they start at 1 and go up to whatever high number is the latest created (and counting ... ). Integers don't really need to be listed and you'd need a very big list to include what each forum was.

I wonder if you are thinking about one of the general discussion areas called <./>askh2g2</.>
As for the second question - A660313 is the Regional Researchers Groups page which might be similar to what you describe.

I'm not aware of any list of *all* the active conversation threads -- after all, there's quite a large number, and it's always changing. But if you click on the Front Page, and look on the right-hand side, you'll see a list of the 5 busiest conversations, as well as the most widely used talk forums. And if you go to <./>info</.>, you'll see the 20 most recently updated conversations.
Hope this helps some!

thanks everyone but I'm still not clear as to a solution to my original question. I simply want to join into some conversation threads that aren't my own.

Then my suggestion is to click on <./>askh2g2</.> and you will see a lot of conversation threads. Pick one that interest you and get stuck in
