Pub, The Castle Tavern, Castle Street, Luton, LU1

I’d suggest this pub to anyone trying to get away from the mainstream/popular music. It doesn’t host bands but I prefer the music in the jukebox which is a mixture of Pop/Rock/Metal from 1960’s onwards for those of us that are starting to feel old just because they actually like those Air Guitar CDs (I know there’s more of you out there! Don’t even try to hide behind your towel!).
You’ll find a mixture of people, all ages and a friendly atmosphere. The staff and manger are fun friendly people and it’s pretty easy to get served as there is a good sized bar and people are happy to move out your way to get to it. It’s quite in the daytime, busier in the evening and heaving on the weekend.
There’s a good selection behind the bar at reasonable prices. Although there are boards up offering food they don’t serve food, only if there’s a big football match on it seems.
