This is a bizarre place in California where you are most likely to see half a million people a year devote a portion of their lives to seeing which bullfrog can jump the furthest. Angels Camp was recently the scene of a scandal involving African bullfrogs imported at great personal cost by one contestant, in order to improve the odds of his frog coming in first and sweeping that much coveted prize of matching nipple rings for the winning owner and his family. The town has now revised its hundred year old contest entry policy, and only Frogs of the instantly recognisable Californian Greenback variety are allowed to jump. The Jumping Frog Contest of Calavaras County is also the yearly meeting place for several thousand of the countries bikers, and is thought to be the birth place for the modern trend of impaling nipples with steel rings.
