With the characters now in college, the show was forced to grow up with them. Things became edgier and Buffy herself seemed more insecure.
It's a brave show indeed that rejects complacency and sets out to challenge its audience, and with Willow 'Coming Out', and Faith's return, the audience certainly had alot to think about.
Buffy is forced to learn alot and tackle difficult issues. Willow acknowledges her increasing power and sexuality. Surprisingly, Xander is in a stable relationship, and Giles is trying to find his place in the world,
