The Evil Dead

Produced in 1983 The Evil Dead starred Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss,

Betsy Baker, Hal Delrich and Sarah York.

The story unfolds as the five friends head to a cabin in the mountains to spend a weekend of relaxation, imbibing spirits and doing what people tend to do in isolated areas when the second element is in plentiful supply. Unbeknownst to the group the cabin has been used by an archaeologist who is translating the Necronomicon Ex Mortis, roughly translated- The Book of the Dead. Through a series of mishaps the group stumbles upon a tape recorder containing notes made by the

archaeologist who 1 reads aloud from the book on the recording. The playing of the tape awakens 'the evil in the forest' and so ensues the possession and eventual demise of nearly everyone present. The gory special effects may appear somewhat superficial to the jaded eye of the modern-day movie goer but it is just that goofiness that lends an endearing quality to this movie that is rarely found in horror films today.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
