Train Journeys to Croydon
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
A question asked by many and answered by none...until now.
The train journey to croydon consists of one of two routes. Both run by the fabulously wonderful and always consistent service provided by South West Trains.......haha...what do you take us for...stupid...oh ...you do?.....
anyway...train journeys to croydon....
The first service takes the unwary traveller through such delightful places such as St. Helier, Carshalton Beeches (since when was there a beach at carshalton...oh...trees....oh I see...) and Sutton (Jewel of the outer reaches of South London...NOT). Before depositing it's passengers upon the beautiful vista that is West Croydon. Although West Croydon and East Croydon (which is our next port of call)are two seperate shopping entities (oooo...who swallowed a dictionary then...)it only takes 10 minutes to walk between the two. So why BOTHER having two stations. Did the town planners really think that the residents of Croydon were not capable of walking 300 meters! (Damn it!....Croydon has three stations...Doh! South Croydon...mind you nobody gets on there so it doesn't really count). The journey to east Croydon is a far more reliable and speedy service although the traveller never see's any of the delights that the journey upon route to West Croydon offers as the train does not stop. Although if it did I wouldn't want to take a holiday at the Tesco Metro in Thorton Heath. As anything left there for too long tends to grow legs and mysteriously walk away. This usually results in Croydon police station contacting you and telling you that although they found your car, it's now been stolen again and is currently somewhere in Penge. This train is a more reliable service as it is run by a completely different company who thinks that the ice cream ladies tray from the interval at your local cinema would make a great dustbin (occasionally they borrow boxes from Kentucky fried chicken when things get a bit busy). It happens that East Croydon Station is their head office. Go figure?!. They provide the best service for their own employee's to get to work, but why anyone would want to work in the fifties style grey tower block that is east Croydon only someone who works for Nestle would know
This concludeth the lesson for today
