The restaurant at the end of time
Created | Updated Jan 28, 2002
McMills, the restaurant at the end of time starts at the beginning of one of longest running parties in the known galaxy, located on Terran 1999/12/31 CE 1600 UTC (Earth, 4pm, Friday December 31st, 1999 to the middle-endian locals).
It starts off next to a big plaza with a view of some guy with a ridiculously big white hat, apologizing for being a bit late because of some last minute arrangements, clarifying that the Y2k celebrations will from now on be known as the Millennium Celebrations(R). After cheers from the crowd he decides to sanctify that 2000/1/1 will be the start of the New Millennium(TM), and not 2001/1/1 as people who can count point out.
Because of wilder cheers from the gathered ticket holders, his merchandize advisors suggest that he does some more sanctifying. He obliges by declaring that 2000/1/1 to 2099/12/31 will from now on be known as the Second 20th Century(TM), and what the hell, that people should just stop using calendars - after celebrating the beginning of the New Millennium(TM) of course. A great party erupts, and the restaurant at the end of time follows local timelines to all the great countdowns.
Afterwards, McMills' patron invites his customers to travel to the Newlands
cricket ground for some biltong, tea and a nap.
