Jamming
Created | Updated Oct 20, 2010
Jamming is a way of playing music that allows for more freedom and improvisation. An individual playing an instrument in a solo fashion cannot be described as an individual Jamming. This is because a Jam needs at least two people.1
Jamming can also be a way of creative thinking in a group. It follows the same principles!
The art of interactive multiperson improvisation
There is an art to successful Jamming. First of all, each of the participating musicians must have good ears. Being able to listen to and hear what is being played is extremely important, especially when improvising. Feeling the flow of the music and the scene is also important, knowing where to build the music up or bring it right down.....
