Everyone treats with equal parts affection and distain the few days before payday. But you needn't go hungry, crawling, ravenous and bloated to the sacred time. Buy some food with a cheque a few days before you get paid, this way you will get food, and the money will come out of your account on payday. You'll have to judge for yourself how long your cheques take to clear, but that's all part of the fun. Remember, Sundays don't count as a real day, so if your payday falls on a Monday, then you get an extra day in the 'Cheque Clearing Loophole' buffer zone.
