The real origin's of Ma'rol Mannan

The beginnings

Project Caladan was first conceived at towards the end of the clone wars and the beginning of the Empire by the cloners of Kamino. A group of cloner's, known as the special projects branch, had been watching the wars closely, and had noticed that time after time it was the jedi who had made the difference in battle. There abilities with the force made them both skilled in combat and in negotiations. Realising the amount of power that they would have with a jedi at there command, they began negotiations with an unknown sith lord, allied closely to the Empire. In return for a force sensative, the sith lord would receive a private force of stormtroopers for free. The sith lord readily agreed and within a matter of months a force sensative was brought from Caladan to Kamino.

However, the sith lord's superior's got word of this, and an emmidiate attack was launched to kill the force sensative. This ended in a stalemate, as the Kamino troops were unwilling to kill there creators, and the Kamino defences were reinforced by more troops. So the sith called a truce and began talks. The Kamino cloners were well on there way to creating a force vessel, containing and able to draw upon the force of everything around him, whilst increasing his own reserves of strength. The sith couldn't allow this of course, and further fighting broke out. However, a second truce was called and the boy himself offered the compromise (under the influence of one of one of his minders).

The solution was a simple one. The boy would be cloned ten times, once a generation. The first nine lives would be lived as a normal human, and no force enhancements could be made to the child. In the tenth year, the boy would be allowed to be fully modified by the cloners. Although this still unnerved the sith, they beleive that they would be able to kill the child, or perhaps infulence him to join the darkside once his powers were fully active. To exploit this, the sith demanded a clause whereby the new child would have to be cloned within a month of the previous clones death.

The cloner's called this project Caladan, after the planet the boy was found on. The cloners knew that these first few generations would be most difficult. And so they set about the preparations for project Caladan to be a success.

The child's incarnations

Child one: the original

The first child was assassinated within a few days of the siths departure from Kamino. A lone bounty hunter shot the nine year old boy as he walked across the gantaries over-looking the Emperor's armies. It was from his DNA that the others were created.
Child two

The second child suffered a similar fate to the first, and was found dead within a few hours of emerging from the cloning vats. It was unknown as to the cause of death, and even an autopsy revealed little. The cloners put it down to a mistake in the gene pool and exumed the corpse of the first boy to take new samples.
Child three: Ta'lek

The third child, named Ta'lek, grew to the age of seven. The cloners had modified the child secretly, increasing his mental capacity in the hope of creating a useful asset until the tenth child. Ta'lek proved a useful asset to the cloners, and learned much about the cloning process and bio-enginnering. This was until Ta'lek tried to investigate the death of the second child. He was found shot dead over the body of the second child, by the same bounty hunter.

Emergency talks were held within the members of project Caladan. The three deaths had been murders with out doubt, and some questioned the point or need for the project to continue. The two fractions settled on a comprimise. They would modify the fourth child to survive.
Child four: Ri

The fourth child was vastly different to its predocessors. This version was vastly muscular, and was in prime health with many of weaknesses of the orignal removed to create a perfect human. Ri, as he became known, far surpassed all the other inhabitants, and became an expert with a huge repeating blaster. He used this during his tenth year when the bounty hunter came again. The bounty hunter had crepted in during his training with the blaster, and had crept up on him. The boy however, has to muscular for the bounty hunters blade to do any serious damage, and the bounty hunter was splattered across the training ground. Ri lived out his life on Kamino, ruining several assassination attempts over the years. he lived a century.
Child five: Raa

The fifth child was made exactly the same as Ri was. Again the years past by until Raa's ninth year, where a sith lord and his apprentice silced him apart.
Child six, seven, and eight: Ta'ri, Ru'lek, Karu

It was at this point where the focus of project Caladan was shifted.Events in the galaxy had, over the courses of these childs lives, changed. Luke had freed the republic, and the sith were gone. Knowing the times to still be turbulant, and not knowing of the fate of the sith they had dealt with, they sent the three succesive generations away to train. They were drilled in the use of every known fire-arm and close-quarter weapon in the galaxy, and were hired out as mercenaries at various points. Each of the corpses, sortly before death, would have there memories copied and implaneted into the next being. This lasted for nearly two centuries.
Child nine: Olnannan

Knowing that the project was reaching its completion, the child was made in a similar way to Ri and Raa. Heavily muscled and naturally longed lived. During this time the child learnt strategy, commanding the defences under the supervision of his minders. He absorbed all his knowledge from his previous incarnations, and became an adept at both strategy and at shooting1. For his acheivements, he was made an ambassador for Kamino (a title which was past down to Ma'rol, along with the many other honours that the others had attatined)

During Olnannan's life, the members of the project started to plan the tenth child in earnest. It was originally design to be used as a weapon but with the changing political climate of the new republic, they decided slowly against this option. It seemed to many as if the project had been a total waste until a young cloner came forward with the solution. Her name was La'roo, one of Mannan (as the tenth child was called) future minders on Kamino. She suggested that Mannan be sent to the jedi academy, using the history of a long dead jedi taken from the archives at coruscant. When he had reached a certain level as a jedi he would then be activated and return to Kamino. This trigger would then be attached to many large military vessels, including there own, in the hope that Mannan would have an employeer. So Mannan had his memories locked away within his brain. The boy was given the name of the padawan whos memories he took, his name was Ma'rol.

Child ten: Ma'rol Mannan

Ma'rol Mannan went to the jedi academy unaware of his brutal past. The cloners had given him a lithe body and pale skin, and was made totally hairless save for a topknot, as this was a style adopted on Caladan. He arrived at the academy and was trained under master Mirig Gr'jar, the head of the order, who had found the boy on a routine mission. Knowing nothing of the boys past, Mirig told him his parents were dead, and Ma'rol was so convinced of this he asked no further questions.

He quickly rose through the ranks and became a knight soon after he came to Yavin. Here he choose a more aggressive stance, using force to counter force if necessary, and built not only a base on Endor but several battle droids.

During an isolation period on Yavin (due to a disease he had contracted whilst on a mission to bring in the rogue agent Annat Tyswi), his past was activated by the approaching Red Star. He promptly returned to Kamino, absorbing his previous incarnations and feeling new techniques slide into place alongside his current ones.

On returning to Kamino Ma'rol started to carve a name for himself, travelling the length of the galaxy to earn a reputation that even the jedi council couldn't beat down:

Yavin IV: Ma'rol escapes the containment chamber he built, waving an emotional farewell to his student jedi knight Anoon Brkil. He is involved in a breif confrontation with the former Sith student To'bru De'ran but manages to leave in relative comfort.
Kamino: Here Ma'rol reabsorbed his skills, revelling in this new found lease of life and emotion. He also built his new lightstaff. The Jedi Knight Annat Tyswi arrived on Kamino seeking to confront Ma'rol, which ended in the sealing of the city for a day.

Coruscant: Ma'rol travelled to Coruscant, seeking aide from Chancellor Kellin to build an army for himself. The Chancellor refused, seeing no reason to fund Ma'rol and his army.

Naboo: He then travels to Naboo, asking the ruling Queen for the money. After intense talks, she too refuses, although plans to think on the matter. A chance meeting with her advisor, Sindarrin, gives Ma'rol the funding his desire for an army.

Kamino: Ma'rol returns to Kamino, attending to various buisness as the planets ambassador, he finally places his order with the Prime Minister.

Coruscant: Ma'rol makes the decision to have Kamino brought into the Republic. He makes various grand gestures infront of the waiting media to advertise his meeting with the Chancellor. Ma'rol meets with the Chancellor and the too discuss Kamino's entery into the Republic. There talks are interupted however by Ma'rols former master Mirig Gr'jar, and the rogue jedi Annat Tyswi. Mirig Gr'jar is cleared of all his former crimes and the Senate decides to leave the vote on Kamino's entery till a later date.

Whilst still on Coruscant, Ma'rol decides to visit the senator for Naboo, hoping to find an ally in the senate. Theres much talking which is again interupted by the rogue knight Annat Tyswi with a distress call from Hoth. With is army ready, Ma'rol decides to answer, and heads for his new ship and army.

The Hammerhead: Ma'rol took control of his new ship and his army, bringing the press with him. He examines the ship and is fairly proud of what he has created. He then gathers his forces to answer the distress signal.

Hoth: The first Kamino Honor Guard under the command of Ma'rol Mannan, aids the jedi knight Annat Tyswi, and later jedi knight Co'bal Th'chi, in helping the escape of a kidnapped padawan from the sith ship The Black Death. His troops are instrumental in bringing the craft down and one of the Sith lords inside, Lord Eversor, is captured by Ma'rols forces. The Sith Lord Niax however, escapes.

The Hammerhead: Ma'rol returns to the Hammerhead with his forces with much celebration. The press are there to watch, and Ma'rol makes the announcement that he intends to bring the sith lord to trial before the senate. Ma'rol then meets with the knight who he aided, who verbally assaults Ma'rol due to there past grudge. The knight is kicked off his vessel.

Ma'rol then sensed a disturbance in the force, emminating from his old padawan, jedi knight Anoon Br'kil. Remembering his old feelings for her, he invites her to stay aboard the Hammerhead and he gives her quarters on board that were originally designed for senate visitors. Anoon decides to start to feel again, escaping the old teachings of the academy with Ma'rol. Ma'rol takes her to the reception room, and the two admit that they love each other. Ma'rol, feeling for the first time since his left a sense of regret and insecurity, proposes to Anoon who happily accepts.
Yavin IV: Ma'rol travels with Anoon back to the academy to see how everyone is after Anoons departure. The academy is in chaos, and this comes to a head when one padawan, by the name of Ba'mic, commits suicide. Ma'rol suffers another torrent of verbal abuse from Annat Tyswi, but stays his hand.
Naboo : Ma'rol and Anoon travel to Naboo for the wedding ceremony. Several guests come, but the couple slip away after the ceremony,

A child for Mannan

As events unfolded Anoon left Ma'rol, but Anoon had become pregnant. In Ma'rols anger and insecurity he added to Kaminoan forces. Anoon however agreed that Ma'rol would be allowed to see the child. This never came to pass, and anoon tried to hide the birth. Ma'rol responded by arriving on Ryloth - where Anoon has the child - and demanding she accompany him to his ship.

The Ice Queen:
Ma'rol, in a fit of madness, tries to kill his new born son - unwilling for him to grow without his influence, and fearing the result of influences if he ever were to become a knight. He fails however, and is left shattered. All he has left is a sample of blood, from which he is able to begin cloning a child of his own.

A week later, the clone of Ma'rols child emerges from the cloning tubes, and Ma'rol names him Od'sseus.

After a breif training period, Ma'rol is summoned by the Republic about his actions of Ryloth.
Coruscant: Ma'rol takes to Coruscant not only his new son but also his Castellans. After a breif exchange by the clearly insane warmongering Annat Tyswi and Ma'rol, corsec strom the building a kill 5 castellans in a one sided gun battle.

Ma'rol and the Castellans are arrested but later released. Od'sseus is taken by Anoon to Yavin.

Ma'rol demands that the bodies of the fallen are sent to Kamino, but is disgusted to find that they have been burnt. He orders the ashes to be collected.
Yavin: Ma'rol heads to Yavin to collect his son, before returning to Kamino.
Kamino: On Kamino Ma'rol finds his armyof a mere 30,000 men has increase to over a million men. He is horrifed at first, but accepts it as a necessary evil.

In his quaters, he senced a disturbance in the force and is soon joined on Kamino by Cobal who tells Ma'rol that she has left the order.

The two agree to go travelling, and intend to meet on Nar Shadaa in several days
Tatooine: Ma'rol with his castellans and his son travel to Tatooine and buy nine dewbacks, adding there weight to ma'rols force.
Arras: Seeking a planet to practice ridding on dewbacks, and ma'rol choses Arras. After some breif training, ma'rol heads into the city to buy materials to build armour for the dew backs.

However after returning to the vessel, Arras authorities try impounding Ma'rols ship and taking back the goods. This fails as Ma'rol mind tricks an entire dock full of people and leaves.
Kamino: Ma'rol returns to Kamino and builds the armour for the dewbacks. He spends long hours with his Castellans teachins them to fight. By now Od'sseus' aging has stopped in his mid-teens. The youth vibrant power and revelation in his youthful prowess can be clearly seen in his skill with the blade. The Father and Son spar, and Ma'rol is shocked by the skill, later attributing it to his wifes martial prowess.

Things take an unexpected twist however when Cobal arrives again offering services asa mediator. After a breif exchange Ma'rol is to be given no part in the proceedings, and the terms of only one bodyguard are delivered. Od'sseus steps forward and volunteers for the task of protecting La'roo.

Cobal later tells Ma'rol it would be unwise to send Od'sseus. This gives him more reason to doubt the reality of the negotiations, and so Ma'rol and Od'sseus agree the negotiations should take place either on the privative Cerea or in the middle of the senate where all can see.

Ma'rols armoury

Staff lightsabre: Ma'rol has built himself a two bladed lightsabre. Its contotations with sith agents come from it being difficult to use, and requiring specialist combat training (which the jedi usually keep well away from). Most notably, the sith agent darth maul used a two bladed lightsabre to kill Qui-gon Gin, one of the few living force adepts.

Ma'rols blade has been modified to create unusally white blades. Upon the handle, ma'rol cermoniously engraved 'suffer not he who weilds this in the name of light' onto its silver shaft. The blades extend to 2' 6" at either end, or a full four foot if used single handed. It is a powerful cutting tool, being longer then most normal blades.

Custom long-rifle: One of several relics from his previous life, the long rifle originally belonged to Olannan but Ma'rol modified it. It comes complete with several different rounds of ammo, as is usual for snipers. The most notable round used by Ma'rol is the metablocker tranquillisers. He used these during his attempt to bring in a rogue agent, but the agent had developed a master of the dark force, and simply caught the bullets unnaturally in mid air. He does still use them however, as he knows they may be effective against more matural foes.
2 holster mounted Dueling pistols: Again, another relic from a previous life, the deuling pistols were modified to fire a highly accurate round at the cost of the ability to penetrate armour. The rounds it does fire however, travel at extremely high speeds and with extreme accuracy.
Ceremonial armour: Ma'rol constructed a heavy set of ceremonial armour in order to protect himself, and constructed similar suits in order to protect his personal bodyguard, the castellans. This consists of a large shoulder plate, protecting both the neck and shoulders, and is connected to tight fitting but flexible armour capable of deflecting blaster shots and interfering with lightsabres.

The Castellans of Ma'rol Mannan

Ma'rol began his ambassadorial career in danger; being pursuede by jedi across the length of the galaxy. In order to combat this he created an honor guard to protect him - two hundred men strong. This honor guard grew to 4000 strong, and have sinced served Ma'rol on the Hammerhead.

Seeing the impracticality of such a bodyguard, Ma'rol selected fifteen to be his personal escort. These were to become the Castellans. Given personal armour akin to Ma'rols, and powerful lightsabres, they became a force to be reckoned with, and have seen action on several planets since there creation.

On Kamino, they defended Ma'rol from an unknown assailant, resulting in the death of three of the Castellans.
On Coruscant, the remaining twelve were reduced to seven as Corsec officers stormed the senate and gunned them down were they stood.

The seven strong are now fearsome warriors in there own right. One amongst there number is responsable for the protection of Ma'rols son, Od'sseus - although the boy is quickly becoming able to handle himself.

In recent times Ma'rol has had a renewel of faith in the Castellans, and now has them as his travelling companions. He took them to Tatooine where he bought each of them a dewback, and after a breif trip to Arras, bought armour for the steeds and stimulants to make them faster in battle.

After the birth of his son, and the cloning of the child to create Od'sseus, Ma'rol began to keep a journal for his son, having long since predicted his own demise at the head of the army he was yet to create in a war of others creation. He had forseen that his sons would play a role in the galaxy that would change the galaxy forever. However both of there roles were clouded - Ma'rol could hope only to guide one of them, and trust in his wife to do the same.

My son

I write this for you in order that in the trials and troubles ahead you will understand me for the man i am, once was, and shall become. I ask only that in years to come you do not look back on me as an evil man. Look only on me as a man, and stay true to what you have faith in and you will make me proud.

Politics has become my life and it is as verdant a battlefield as any before it. Mighty generals can rise up and lead those about him, yet the rule of the strong is fickle, and the leader will fall only to be replaced. Yet in the process many are thrown to the way side to be trampled on like dogs. Know this my son, i will never be the dog.

You must think long and hard about your actions my son, for they will forever be your undoing if you do wrong. Have faith in your own abilities first, let them guide you in what needs to be done and let fate take its course through you.

I think i should mention your mother. Anoon Brkil was my learner, my apprentice if you like, when i was a knight. When i left the academy for my home i sensed her trouble and aided her. That grew into something more and the result is you and your brother. We seperated as things go. Have no doubt son that i loved her with every essence of my being and would gladly toss aside all i have worked for to have her back. But i have done things that cannot be taken back. That is why you must be mindful of your actions.

Rest easy my son. I go to mourn my loss

Entery two

This is the day where we set out on our great adventure. We travelled to Tatooine and received our mounts. They are a strange beast dewbacks but are exactly what i need for the task ahead.

Your riding is impressive my son and i fear the opponent who has to take you on. I hope the armour your wearing is not to heavy and doesnt hurt your back like mine first did. If it does ill modify it in order that it better fits your frame.

Entery Three

Your skill with a blade impressess me further still. I cant take the credit for that; in that regards you are all your mother. You are in the prime of your life my son and you will be the pride of Kamino before i go to the grave.

I think you have inherited my ruthlessness. Today you asked me for a legion of troops to conquer Arras. Oh my son what dreams you have. You continue to amaze me like i always knew you would. It is as if i have nothing to teach you, yet any scrap of knowledge that you do not know you absorb like a sponge and if you were not my son i would fear you. Wait i sense something. Your mother is abroad. Perhaps it is time to make our move.

Entery Four

Data lost - It is known at this time Anoon returned to Kamino, with there first born son, now named Vladmir

Entery five>

My son, your mother is with child again and i fear she will not survive through the pregnancy. She is weak in both mind and body, and i fear that both are my doing. She wont come near me.

I know you have taken Vladmir to Yavin. I know you have done this for your mother and i do not begrudge you for it.

1Olnannan was a brilliant shot, prefering single shot kills to his previous incarnations multi-barrelled monstrousities. He was at times used on special asignments, shooting people who wouldn't pay there debts to the hard working kaminoans.
