Crumbs, crumbs everywhere, and not a cookie in sight!

Having been living and working in a squat in Berlin, I'd just like to let people know a little bit about the life of a squatter!
Contrary to popular belief, squatters do not just walk into somebody's house and set up shop! The houses are usually vacant for years, having been left there to fall apart in the hope of making more money after renovation - by higher rent charges etc.
As squatter's we tried to fight against this stream of thought. We made our own community, organized film evenings, open kitchens, parties, demonstrations... we were constantly trying to improve our way of living, and yes, we were paying rent!
For anyone interested in squatting, here's a great world wide account! Squat Net
Have fun!
