possibly better described as a `word-worm,' meaning a string of words which stays in your mind, often with a tune attached, even when you want it to go away.

perhaps a musicologist or lexicologist could add to this entry.

One technique to remove an offending `sound-bite' would be to recite a nonsense rhyme, (or even sing a happy song). This technique was demonstrated in a `Doctor Who` episode featuring Jon Pertwee and Elisabeth Sladen, to block the effect of attempted brain-washing.
