Belfast - My very first entry for h2g2.com 29th April 1999. An Introduction.

A little about myself and my locality.
You can all call me Marky J, at present I am living on the outskirts of Belfast at a place called Drumbeg. The place is steeped in history, which I am ashamed to say I know very little about, I shall endeavour to rectify that for all our benifit.
Sorry I digress, Drumbeg is placed in the middle of the most beautiful countryside, there is the Lagan, the river that flows through Belfast, Lady Dixon Park and expanses of undulating farmland all around.
The Lagan - There is a Tow path which Streches from beyond Lisburn all the way into the centre of Belfast along the river and Old Canal, while walking along it you really wouldn't know you were in a city, it is one of the most beautiful, relaxing strolls you could take (especially during the Winter months when most People prefer to stay inside). I have seen Swans' nesting, a nervous Crane (of me obviously)and much more. I've feel lucky to have that bit of Wilderness on my back doorstep.
Lady Dixon Park on the otherhand is not as much of a wilderness, but it's just as good a place to go for a stroll. During the Summer months the International Rose Festival is held here and I'm telling you I doubt you will have seen so many different types in the same place in your entire life unless your've been to the festival itself ofcourse. The entire park was donated to the City Council (I think) by the late Sir Thomas & Lady Dixon, hence the parks name.
That's all for today, I will do some research and I'll find out a few interesting facts about the area.
Until a later date then, Marky J signing out.
