Rugby World Cup

To those who live in Wales the Rubgy World Cup, or Cwpan Rygbi y Byd is pretty much an unescapable phenomenum. It is an apparent attempt to demonstrate the global appeal of a sport which is essentially played particularly well only by about ten countries. The opening game was played in Cardiff on Friday 1st October, at three p.m. Sadly it seems that the whole nation were unable to watch it, since having been too ill to come into work that day we were all clearly too 'flu riddled to drag ourselves to a television screen. Of course the pubs put on a good show by filling their establishments with sixteen paid foreign actors per square yard of space so as to create the impression that the biggest sporting event in this country hadn't co-incided with the biggest viral epidemic in the history of the world.
The game itself was somewhat of a disappointment, but since everyone was too drunk to care (presumably all the paracetamol had tragic effects on the nation's livers) the celebrations went on into the night. And hey, we won.
