- Understanding of music notation
- Sensitive and pleasing interpretation of another composer’s music
- Performance
It is quite common for parents to encourage sensitive children to take up music as a hobby therefore a piano teacher must have qualities such as:
Patience, empathy, good listening and counselling skills, ability to cope with problems immediately/understanding every aspect of human behaviour, sense of humour.
ADMINISTRATION
Before a piano lesson can begin the teacher has to create his/her own system for:-
- Ordering books
- Planning lessons and time-tables
- Controlling their own accounts
A piano teacher’s duty is to convey all of the above to the student in an honest and trustworthy manner.
It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that the pupil practices diligently every week.
