<P>The debate 'Trousers versus Pants' would rage ever onwards, if it wasn't for h2g2 taking the matter in hand and pointing out the relative merits and distinctions of the two, thus preventing trans-Atlantic confusion. That's <a href="/A129647">another entry</a>*, and an extremely important one at that, but it's inspired a new one: <a href="/A209008">Hemming Pants or Trousers</a>... A very important issue for those ever-changing hemlines...</P>
<P>*In summary in America a 'pair of pants' is a garment which covers the pelvic region of the body and a good length of the leg as well. These are known as 'trousers' in the UK, whereas a 'pair of pants' is worn underneath 'trousers' and covers the pelvic region only. Glad we cleared that up.</P>
