Hats Or The Collapse Of Civilisation

1 Conversation

Hats hold a very important place in the history of this planet. Unfortunately the current state of affairs that many a
hitchhiker might notice is due almost solely to the fact that the majority of people do not realise this. Hats, of some kind
or another, have been worn through out the ages. Small ones, big ones, large floppy ones with foppish feathers, sombre
felt affairs and so on. In fact the highest symbol of authority was a hat. Admittedly a somewhat spangly one, and no use
for keeping the rain off. However, what else can a crown be, than a form of hat.

It is my contention that, having perused, in an admittedly amateur fashion, the annals of history it can easily be seen
that the state of the world today, lawlessness, disrespect for your elders, the Spice Girls and the lack of decent moustaches
can all be traced to the demise of the hat as a standard item of clothing.
Before the sixties hats were worn,
the Express Newspaper was a broadsheet, presenters dressed to appear on the radio, American Presidential private lives
were kept private and the lower classes knew how to tug a forelock.
From the sixties on, no hats, flower power, television
on Sundays, scantily clad women in newspapers, high taxes, bad public services and the Tellytubbies. This is no
coincidence I tell you.

Now you may think that the current trend amongst the youth of today for baseball caps disproves this. Well, you have
only to llok at a cap with a mere forward facing brim and sporting the logo "Hague" to realise that it is no match
for a good Homburg or, on a pleasent day, a Panama.

The only people who wear true hats these days are those in the know. We are a small bunch, but we intend to return the
world to those bygone days. So wear a hat and stand up for real ale and right thinkers.
