Newcastle upon Tyne, England

2 Conversations

Newcastle upon Tyne is situated in the North-East of England. Famous in the old days for its coal and steel production (and people still object if you try to take coals to Newcastle), ship building on the river Tyne and the river Wear at Sunderland. Nowadays it is more famous for its football team Newcastle United (The Magpies or Toon Army) and the fact it is the 8th best night out in the world and the fact it is the 8th best night out in the world. There millions of places to eat and drink (some of which are situated in Newcastle itself). The centre for drinking is undoubtably the Big Market area (which actually used to be a market, as did the Haymarket, Grassmarket and Greenmarket (which still is!)) Traditional attire in Newcastle in the winter evenings includes (for men) a small t-shirt and a pair of jeans or (for women) a three millimetre long skirt and see-through top. All attempts to stay warm must be made with as many people as possible (together or one at a time). In summer people don't wear as much.
