Mario

This is not about everyone named Mario. I don't know everyone named Mario. I don't know anyone named Mario. Anyone real, anyway.
This Mario is Nintendo's Mario, created years ago by Shigeru Miyamoto for his game Donkey Kong (DK revolutionized video games with its plot based loosely on Beauty and the beast).
Mario's profile is not exactly set, but it's most widely accepted that he is a plumber from Brooklyn sent through a dimensional warp to The Mushroom Kingdom where people have mushrooms for heads, rotten mushrooms turn evil and come to life, and "Magic Mushrooms" make you double in size. Any connections to hallucinogens are denied and that's fine with me. Other characters in the Mushroom Kingdom include: Princes Peach, ruler and about the only humanoid inhabitant without a mushroom head; Luigi, Mario's brother, no mushroom head; King Koopa, a giant fire-breathing, hammer throwing, turtle with horns, again I stress, any connections to hallucinogens is denied, normal giant horned turtle head; and Toad, typical mushroom headed Mushroom Kingdom inhabitant.
Read my article "The origin of Mario?” which I just wrote before this. It's okay now.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
