"Did two tours of duty in Vietnam,
"I came back with a brand new plan,
"Take seeds from Columbia and Mexico,
"Plant it in the hollow up at <song title"
That would be "Copperead Road", by Steve Earl. Came out in the early 90s,
I believe. Steve did a bit of jail time after that, and put on a concert from in
prison.

Kokomo? Who knows?! We'll have to ask the poser (the person that posed the question, that is!)
Yoo-hoo, Researcher 96723...?
Hey, Zaren Ankleweed, I'm talking to you!

Okay, got my threads in a tangle.
We'll assume, in the absence of R96723, that Zaren Anleweed has correctly guessed the 'Vietnam' lyric.
That just leaves Entropy's enquiry (?) and my lyric, which I shall repeat here, as I'm feeling kind-hearted:
'If religion was a thing that money could buy, well the rich would live and the poor would die..... River Jordan is chilly and cold, chills the body but not the soul [yeah]'.
Already given you more than enough clues as to the artist. When cracked (either the lyric, or your mental powers), mosey (sp?) on over to http://www.h2g2.com/A150120 to pick up a new thread on the Name That Tune theme, or take a trip to http://www.h2g2.com/A173675 (do not pass go) to play Music Trivia, or the absurd, make-up-the-rules-as-you-go-along Lyric Game.
