Hour of Control: Analysis
Created | Updated Oct 14, 2003
This story and the latter share remarkable similarities. As with the first being set in an airport, this takes a unique look at the mythos of Doctor Who itself. As a television show more akin with the third Doctor era and Quatermass.
The very thought of a fictional 'Quatermass-like character' existing as a postmodern attempt to capture science fiction within the storyline is well founded.
With some interesting characters such as the icy cold 'Executive', the controller of the television studio, who likes to run things efficiently, together with a vicious and loyal secretary Harmer and a security guard Synwell.
These villains remaining as humanoid capture a threat of invasion well as does the suspense throughout the storyline.
Although Jamie's role is restricted considerably as he is picked up as a replacement for a vital character in a production, it does still hold together.
Each of the characters get to shine in one way or another from the eccentric actor- Webster playing Dr Doommaster to the technical producer Marlowe.
