A Conversation for The world's favourite watering holes

The Waterfront - Inverness

Taipan - Jack of Hearts

Situated on the banks of the river ness, Inverness, Scotland. This has the option for drinkers - during the summer - to sit on the grassy banks, watching the river (and the world) go by.

Internally, there is a horshoe shaped bar, behind which the friendliest of staff abide - forever willing to go to major extremes to ensure the drink you ordered - however obscure - is made available. The bar is run in a very democratic manner, and is fully customizable by those who frequent it.

The live music is provided by different bands every week, and is never so intrusive - or glaringly technical - that you can't hold a decent conversation, with no flashing lights designed to distract your attention.

Neither too large, nor too small, the atmosphere would be described as cozy.

Among the meals served, the best is a juicy steak served on a hot grill platter with full compliment of salad and condiments - not that you should require any.

In my case, not only for the above reasons do I love this pub, but it happens to be about 10 doors away from my house, proving the journey home - no matter how inebriated I may be - possible.

In addition, should I wish a change of meal, the local chinese takeaway is located 5 doors down from my house.

Ahh...life! It doesn't get much better than this!
