A Conversation for The world's favourite watering holes
The Scenic Hotel, Norton Summit

After careful examination of various pubs around Australia and the USA, I've come to the conclusion that the best one is the Scenic Hotel at Norton Summit, in South Australia. (* note when I say "best", I mean my favourite. How you'd decide which was the best pub overall would be difficult, and probably involve trial by combat of some sort, or working out some beer-scoring index system, or something. All sounds a bit scientific for me...)
Now, where was I ? Ah yes, the Scenic. Well, it's about 25 minutes drive out of Adelaide City, into the hills. It is a favourite pub of rockclimbers, bikers, cyclists, hikers, and has a great ambience. The upstairs bar is a laid back, almost jazzy place at times, with a fairly "classical" selection of beers and other drinks available.
The downstairs bar is a bit more "rootsy", and makes quite an endearing venue for throwing back a few bourbons. And the jukebox has just the perfect mixture of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Blues Brothers, and John Lee Hooker available for helping me mellow out.
Now I'd like to point out that if anyone from the Scenic is reading this, I'd certainly welcome a free pint or two, or even one of those magnificent schnitzels (which are also available, at very reasonable prices !).
I think I'd better go now.
