Open-Source software devotees were rocked today at the revelations that Linux, the ostensibly free operating system created by some scandinavian with a funny name1, had actually been systematically diverting money from users' bank accounts.

Good Times

Eric Van der Derder, head of the 'Good Times Institute for Unwarranted Software Scares' explained "Because Linux is often used for web-commerce applications, it was an easy task for it to siphon a part of each transaction into a secret bank account. Also, a secret handshaking protocol allows any Linux computer to break into any bank and withdraw small amounts of money from users' accounts. We estimate it costs many hundreds of times more than other so-called commercial operating systems."
