Outdoor swimming pools of Luxembourg

Intro
The tiny western European Grand Duchy1 of Luxembourg has lots of advantages but one of its big problems is that it is very far from the sea2. Thankfully there are a number of alternative ways to enjoy some swimming and splashing around.
Vianden
The outdoor pool at Vianden has one of the most spectacular views in the world: the huge and very well preserved medieval castle of Vianden sits perched on a rocky cliff just a few kilometers away, and its imposing silhouette dominates the skyline. The pool is open from early May to early September and it costs 1.40 euros for children and 2.80 for adults. There is no time limit on how long you can stay. It has a great slide3 which drops into the smaller of its two brilliant pools. The small pool, which also has a waterfall machine, ranges from 50 centimetres to 1 meter 30. By contrast the second pool is more suitable for doing lengths, and has 9 starting blocks at either end, and a constant depth of 2 meters 50.Also at Vianden there is a cafe selling snacks, ice-creams and drinks - this cafe overlooks the pools. There is also a little play park suitable for younger children right next to the baby pool. There are on site changing facilities including showers and toilets.
