How many Yikesed posts do we need to summon a mod? Maybe if we say [name of unspecified entity] into the thread 5 times at midnight one will appear to say "Don't be insensitive!"

It reminds me of the time when the US went to war in Iraq. It seemed there were more modded posts than readable ones!

And apparently, it's swapping over to PR now.
I really don't understand that people get so personal and don't just yikes posts they find offensive, but take their 'hatred' to people's personal spaces or guide entries.

Right, so suggesting that people aren't in fact the messiah and could feasibly be naughty boys is defamation? So much for changing the mind of the reasonable man...
Ok, my new stance is this:
"The sun shines brightly from every bottom on the planet. Every person is incorruptible, honest, trustworthy and other words too! It's cool to leave three kids under the age of four in a room while you go out to eat. Best thing ever. We should all do it. Oh, but if you don't then that's the best thing ever too! Everything's cool!"

As I said on the other thread, the main problem seems to be a person (or persons) who would rather hit the yikes button instead of rebutting ... thereby causing a lot of extra, and unnecessary imho, work for the Eds.
If you are expressing a personal opinion that does not contravene the house rules then I think you should be allowed to do so.
Isn't that the whole point of debate?

My posts (on previous pages) criticise the McCann's for leaving their children on their own but haven't been yikesed whilst those by other posters which we can't see but which they *assure* us said exactly the same thing and have been. Funny that.
Either the yiksers like me for some reason or the yikesed posts were a bit more libellous than the posters are claiming.

I said, and I quote:
"They aren't whiter than white" - meaning they're not the entirely blameless victims as portrayed in the media.
Take from that what you will.

The term "whiter than white" puts me in mind those laundry detergent adverts ... one can get it cleaner and whiter than the other.
Is there a problem with that?
Suggesting that something has been made to look cleaner and whiter than perhaps what it is?
In terms of the parents coming off as the 'victims' here, I would say that expression is quite reasonable as a personal opinion.

>>Well, I hope the moderators will see that there was abusive yikesing taking place<< TB
The mods won't see that, because their job is to look at each post in isolation (sans thread context) and judge it on that.
The only people who will see if there is abusive yikesing going on are the Eds, and you will have to notify them by email and let them know. They don't read every thread and may be unaware of what is going on.

emailed about mine (removed for defamatory/libellous content)
I'm not a lawyer, so I'd appreciate advice about that (which I've asked them for) since I actually made no accusations (except against the press) and named no names.
It may take time, I can only email in the evenings

Danrned if I knew, Sho. Maybe the names of Darren and Shazza from the Jasmine-allen-estate (on Sun Hill) made it libellous? To be honest, I've never heard any of the names before, I just assumed they were fictive characters in a fictive place from a tv series?

Morning Sho,
Had one of mine 'pulled' yesterday for the same reasons as you. Read out of context I can see why, but I'm not bothering to rewrite it. Other posters have alluded to what I wanted to say, so I'll leave it there.
Regards
Novo

I've changed one word on mine (Darren and Shazza, B'El are "typical" names for people from a "sink estate", not real and not from TV. The Jasmine-Allen-Estate is a fictional sink estate from the TV programe The Bill)
hopefully it can then be reinstated
Key: Complain about this post
