Most of us at sometime ,will have asked the question;
The only answer I could give is just two words,
God knows.

Music can recall memories
Of a certain place or time.
Carols sung on Christmas day
Or a child's first nursery rhyme.

Teenagers at a disco
With its pounding rhythmic beat.
Young people, out on a first date,
Learning to find their feet.

Those in love have'their tune'.
Whenever they hear it sung
Throughout the years,its echos recall
The time when their love was young.

Sacred music, in a church
Played on a special day.
Joyful hymns at a wedding,
Sad notes when we pass away.

All through our lives there is music
And afterwards,we are told
That even in Heaven we'll hear it,
Played there on harps of gold.

REACHING FOR A STAR.

You stand there upon the stage.
A famous rock star, all the rage.
Besieged by crowds of screaming fans,
They call your name. hold out their hands.

Somehow I manage to push through.
Then I hold out my hand to you.
Your eyes meet mine, their brilliant gaze
Really puts me in a daze..

You reach down and take my hand.
I wish you could understand.
So many things I'd like to say,
But you have no time to stay.
By tomorrow you'll be gone.
Another gig , another town
With other girls who wave and call
Will you remember me at all. ?

Starlight may fade with light of day
And you'll be many miles away;
But I won't forget, wherever you are,
That for one brief moment I touched a star.

BACK TO THE SIXTIES.

We may be forty-somethings but we're still teenaged inside.
See us on a Saturday night when we go out to jive
To sixties music, songs with words that you can understand
On records played by a D.J. or live with a sixties band.

Todays teenagers at their raves don't know what they miss.
How can they enjoy themselves half as much as this ?
To dance facing a partner, not just jumping up and down
Without the blinding disco lights, we can see what's going on.

A ballroom, with a glittering ball above a big dance floor
With room to move around and jive, that's what this music's for.
We don't need drugs, or too much drink, we don't get in a fight.
And we can remember, how much we enjoyed our night.

In the summer season, sixties stars all go on tour.
Theatres at holiday resorts fill with fans from years ago.
Because we've aged together, the stars still look the same
As they did thirty years ago when they first came to fame.

Our teenaged sons and daughters think we are quite mad.
They get so embarrassed to see their mum and dad
Jiving in the theatre aisles, why don't we act our age ?
We do. We are eighteen again when those stars are on the stage.
