A Conversation for Talking Point: How Should Education be Funded?

It makes me sick that the Government make students pay for an education. It has created a biased system that prevents everybody gaining the education they desire.
The grant system, although it had its faults, at least allowed three years of post FE funding to all.
After all it is the country that is benefitting. I'm not saying graduates are better for the country, or anything of the sought, but if people are given opportunities, in whatever not just education, they become happier and feel valued.
The Government actually set targets which required a massive increase in students continuing into HE to become equal with France and Germany. It now appears they are not bothering to follow up their targets.
Scotland and Wales manage to find some kind of funding, and the budget is always increasing - this year by several billion.
A bit jumbled, but there you go.
