Pennies

1 Conversation

Pennies are small shiny round metallic coins. They feature the picture of a dead President on one side, which is a popular adornment for currency, and a picture of a shrine to this dead president on the other side, another popular way of adorning currency in America. Although pennies start out rather shiny, through much passing from hand to hand and spending many dark hours in people's pockets, purses and jars on bureaus, pennies eventually achieve more of a dull appearance. If you happen to find one face up on the sidewalk, pick it up quickly as it is consider lucky. However if the shrine to the dead president is facing up, DO NOT touch the penny, as this is considered extremely unlucky. I have been informed by my local checkout girl that pennies are currently in shortage in the United States, so any that you may be holding hostage would be greatly appreciated by your local clerk.
