Bookcrossing

1 Conversation

Bookcrossing is a movement which aims to free books into the world and review their progress as they travel. This is done by providing them with a unique ID. When you decide to send a book on it's travels you make "release notes" saying where it is going, and add a label to the book providing the ID number.

The person who finds the book will then hopefully register the book on-line to say that it has been found, and once they have read the book - hopefully they will release it again.

Members do "wild releases" meaning they randomly plant a book somewhere hoping someone will pick it up and register it. Members also do "controlled releases" meaning they actively send it to another member of bookcrossing - like a swap, or an act of kindness.

It's great fun, good karma and lovely people. We aim to make the world one giant library - pop along to www.bookcrossing.com and join us. ;)
