Concert Venues of the World

I would be interested to know if anyone (excluding bunnies, no bunnies please) is at all familiar with a world-famous, premier venue, much revered, yaddah, yaddah, yaddah, and found it to be the following:
acoustically terrible,
over-ornamented,
full of people you'd hope to avoid, even in Hell, if you believe in it,
in the middle of a world-class city, yet in the middle of transport nowhere,
infested with... roaches.
You're either saying, 'nope', or 'the person behind the whole thing should be shot'. Well, if you mean me, I'm just acting from concern. If you mean the founders, well, they're already gone. What a bequest!
