Xenomorph

..is a humanoid creature that breeds inside a living host, usually lives in a large hive controlled by a Queen, emits goo, bleeds acid and looks scary.
This, obviously, is fiction.
The xenomorph creature was created kind of by dutch artist H R Giger, whose painting was seen by the makers of the 1978 movie Alien. They decided to make their alien look like the creature in the painting.
The xenomorph creature appeared later in four more movies, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection and a cameo appearance in Predator 2.
In the movie Alien, the crew of a space freighter become shish kebab one by one in the hands of this xenomorph creature, which the Company told them to bring back. The Company, Weyland-Yutani corporation, is quite an interesting establishment, expertising in space mining and biological weapons.
In the second movie, Aliens, more people become a delicious turkish dish by, surprisingly considering the title, several xenomorph creatures.
With the third part of the series, once again people are prepared as food by the icky thing..and the same thing in Alien Resurrection, which is in a way quite a strange fourth part of the series, since the main character, Ellen Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) dies in the third film.
In Predator 2, however, the killing is all done by the Predating dreadhead, and the xenomorph only appears dead among the predators trophies.
The xenomorph creature, as said, breeds inside a living host. It has three life stages:
1. The facehugger.
This is what comes out of the egg. It finds a victim and jumps on its face, lays an embryo down the victims throat, then wanders off and dies.
2. The chestburster.
It's pretty obvious what this does. This is the grown embryo that eats its way out of the victim. It then finds shelter and food, and grows into..
3. The warrior
Or the grown alien. Big, black, slimy and lethal. A survivor. It can run on walls and ceilings, leap large distances, hurt people with its tail, claws or tongue (!) and be a general pain in the down below.
This, too, is fiction. Hopefully.
