Nicholas Hoult is a young British actor most famous for his portrayal as Marcus Brewer in the 2002 film About A Boy.

Nicholas was born in 1989 in Wokingham, London, where he still lives. He attends the Sylvia Young Theatre School. He has three siblings, all actors. His mother Glenis was his first piano and voice coach.

Nicholas started acting at a very young age. "I was watching a play." he said "and the director was watching me watch the play.".

He had small roles in several television series including The Bill and a bit part in the 1996 film Intimate Relations.

Nicholas won the part of Marcus in About A Boy over many other hopeful boys. He impressed both directors1 and Hugh Grant (the main actor in the film) at many auditions. Nicholas enjoyed filming About A Boy so much he burst into tears when he was told that filming for him was finished. Despite this, he says that he is nothing like is geeky on-screen character.

Nicholas will next be seen in the film Love is a Survivor, about war-torn Poland. He will play the young version of Herman, the main character.
