How to capture the audience, the reader's attention? By giving them a cliff-hanger that the Doctor is surely never going to escape from.
And even then keep the tension going by adding further parts to the story, not padding.
INTERLUDE: DECEPTION
The final part of the Interlude series as the story was left at re-building and establishing Gallifrey. It has often been claimed to be the most important planet in the universe but why? Here I tried to explain partly why the Daleks had invaded, why Gallifrey was so important in the proceedings.
As the Index continues to revage other worlds in existence the aliens and Time Lords are forced to co-operate, even the Red Dalek scientist is made to help. It was present at the invasion, it holds the codes for the transduction barriers.
This was thus the importance, that Gallifrey could become the only shelter and sanctuary from the Index when it was working correctly but as this working relationship goes further, echoes of Power of the Daleks comes into question as the title reads- Deception is on its mind.
Without a common link aside from the Dalek, things are starting to build up to an exciting conclusion with something to tip the balance even more so.
A tad repetitive but another invasion is looming on the horizon and this time it's greater because unlike before, this a much more believable Dalek invasion using a pursuit ship matching the signs of the invasion of earth craft the Daleks invade successfully.
Their plan to advance the Time Lords plan to convert Gallifrey's core to propulsion and thus save their race from extinction conceals a darker truth. Though to comparison the ice caves that Artrem and Nicole, I was considering it to be alike the ice caves in Dragonfire but to be connected as one of the many passageways beneath the capital.
Whatever the Daleks were planning, the scene was set for the final battle....
