Hey Jodan, we're a bit lacking in content. Want to interview me for a feature called 'Meet Someone Who Is Not Mr Inquisitor'?

Sure!
Question the first-
Why Deus Ex Machina? (And I have a follow up)
Jodan..xx

Because my original name stunk. Also, it was the first phrase coming to my mind, as I had recently read the Lemony Snicket book 'The Vile Village'.

Since your current name, Deus Ex Machina is better than your first name, it brings up the question 'How much worse could a name be?' (That's rhetorical)
Did you feel slighted when Gnomon recently got an edited entry on Deus ex Machina or did you feel it was really front page exposure? He got an editors pick and a blob for it, so I suppose you got a picture for your name.

I was actually kind of surprised that there wasn't already an entry. It's kind of cool, actually. Probably the only time I'll ever be on the front page, as I never get around to writing entries
The Gazzette!
J Posted Aug 27, 2003
I smell a cracking entry on black sheep coming on...
You run the classified ads for The Post, correct? Is this the most boring reporter job at the Post?
(Aside- I'm going to continue to insult you... don't take any of it seriously, 'kay?)
The Gazzette!
the h2g2 Gazzette team Posted Aug 27, 2003
Boring? Pah! It's fun! Exciting! Even when it does get a smidge repetitive, you can rearrange the ads anyway you like!
(NOTE: For those who can't detect, that was sarcastic...)
Actually, I got the job because I needed to promote a society called 'The Vogons' in order to become an Elite Vogon. Moonglum, who created the page, had left h2g2, so I decided to take charge of it myself.
The Gazzette!
J Posted Aug 27, 2003
And why did you want to become an elite Vogon? Are you compensating for something?
I also noticed that Moonglum has returned to us. Has he responded to your taking over?
The Gazzette!
the h2g2 Gazzette team Posted Aug 27, 2003
I like joining cool societies. Societies are cool.
Actually, I made sure the deal was okay with Moonglum before I took over. It's all cool.
(aside- looks a bit gray when you view him in the 'Talk Buffy [Cult]' skin, FYI.)
The Gazzette!
J Posted Aug 27, 2003
(aside- why are you viewing him in Cult?)
But are you compensating for something?
Now, your title as Gazzette Reporter Managing Editor forms the rather unattractive title "GRME". Are you in fact Grimey?
Jodan..xx
The Gazzette!
the h2g2 Gazzette team Posted Aug 27, 2003
Well, I guess I might be compensating for the fact that I've always been kind and caring throughout my life. I've always wanted just to have a bit of time every day to be mean. Being an Elite Vogon gives me that opportunity.
Grimey? Someone's doing a bit of mudslinging here... No, I'm not Grimey. I take a shower every morning because otherwise my sister says I smell awful. But my sister says I smell awful anyway, so that's not a very good excuse.
(aside- Because I was seeing how the Gazzette office looked in all the DNA skins. I like Sense of Place Northern Ireland a lot, but Talk London isn't bad.)

J Posted Aug 27, 2003
I see...
I see...
Well I gues you're doing a bit of Deus ex Machina yourself! (If I read Gnomon's entry right, anyway)
Remembering selectively, it looks like you have started and belong to a number of clubs. Is this because of a burning need to belong?
The Gazzette!
the h2g2 Gazzette team Posted Aug 27, 2003
Hmm... actually I don't know. That could be the reason. I think it was originally an aim to join all the clubs and societies of h2g2, but now, it's more of a desire to socialize.
(aside- Did you put 'handsome' beside your name in this week's issue's front page?)
The Gazzette!
J Posted Aug 27, 2003
(aside- )
That's a very interesting goal. What are some of your other h2g2 goals? If you don't have any, make some up.
The Gazzette!
the h2g2 Gazzette team Posted Aug 27, 2003
Goals? To write an Edited Entry (fat chance), write a Post column, and maybe one day become an Italic.
The Gazzette!
J Posted Aug 27, 2003
Funny, I'm on my way to 42 Edited Entries
Don't we all want to get paid to do this?
In closing, what's your favorite DNA book?
The Gazzette!
the h2g2 Gazzette team Posted Aug 27, 2003
Favourite? I'd have to say the second Dirk Gently book, 'The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul'. I don't know why, but I just like it. My favourite Hitchhiker book is 'The Restaurant at the End of the Universe' (although I like the radio version with the Hagguenenons [I hope I spelled that right]).
