INTERIOR. BASE-CORRIDOR.

Sergeant: I… I… Please I don’t want this? Give me that gun.

Kerri: This one, but it’s still fully loaded?

Sergeant: Doesn’t matter girl… there’s more than enough here for what I have to do!

{He takes the rifle and cocks it, checking it over.}

Sergeant: Thanks, now go, get away from here!

Kerri: But please, we can still help you?

Sergeant: I said… Go!

The Doctor: It’s not wise to provoke a man armed with a machine rifle Kerry, time we were off. I’m sorry.

Sergeant: Yeah, well so am I!

{Suddenly there is rapid gunfire, loud and powerful.}

Kerri: Doctor!

The Doctor: It’s all right Kerri, he wasn’t aiming at me but someone behind us!

Kerri: Doctor?

The Doctor: This way Kerri, don’t look behind!
Sergeant: Kill me, you evil things, come and try it!

{He unleashes a few sudden rounds but they bounce and ricochet off his unseen enemies as Kerri and the Doctor scurry off quickly.
The Cybermen rasp and wheeze as they come closer, their footsteps echo deeply.}

Cyberleader: Disable!

{The sergeant screams as the crackle of lightning hits his form and he slumps heavily.}

Kerri: Doctor, we can’t just leave him?

The Doctor: It’s too late for him and by the look of it too so are we, a dead end.

Kerri: The corridor, there must have been a cave in? We can still get through there, given time?

The Doctor: But that’s exactly it Kerri, we’ve got no time left. We’re being followed Kerri, that alcove over there.

Kerri: Doctor, I can’t fit? Even if I breathe in I won’t fit?

The Doctor: Go on the other side, I’m sure you’ll fit in behind those pipes?

{Suddenly heavy footsteps echo down the corridor, drawing ever closer and hurriedly Kerri dashes over to the pipe.}

Kerri: Those Cybermen, they’re huge!

The Doctor: Yes and very deadly! On collecting duty it seems?

Kerri: Why has one of them got a black helmet or is it its head?

The Doctor: That’s the Cyberleader, Kerri, it must be in charge of collecting in this section?

Kerri: They’re picking up the bodies, like they’re guns? Why are they putting them into that hovering skip?

The Doctor: Conversion materials. As I said earlier Cybermen need human beings alive, they need them to procreate their metal race, every human becomes like them, subjects of cold logic.

Kerri: What? But we have to stop them; we have to save those people!

The Doctor: Throwing your life away won’t help anyone Kerry, the Cybermen have them now and there’s precious little we can do for them.

Kerri: Doctor, that one, the leader has been quite still, has it broken down?

The Doctor: Communicating no doubt. They have a network system- Cybernised that is. And that means that he’s not the main Controller probably a section leader of some sort?

Cyberleader: You two take this skimmer to the transporter at the end of this level.

Cybermen: Understood.

Kerri: We have to help them?

The Doctor: We can’t!

Cyberleader: What was that?

1st Cyberman: Unknown? Possible survivor?

Cyberleader: Investigate at once.

Cybermen: Yes Leader.

The Doctor: Oh no they’re coming over. Quiet, just remain quiet Kerri.

2nd Cyberman: Multiple human sound vibrations detected.

Cyberleader: We know you are there! You will reveal yourselves.

The Doctor: Oh dear. That’s torn it!

Kerri: What do we do now?

The Doctor: Against three heavily armed Cybermen. Not much!

Cyberleader: You will reveal yourselves immediate or we will kill you.

The Doctor: Best leave the talking to me! Come on Kerri. No need to be scared?
It’s all right we’re coming out now! There we are no need to fire?

Cyberleader: Caucasian Male and Female. You will come with us. Resistance is useless.

Kerri: Can’t we make a run for it?

The Doctor: No we can’t, not by their speed even with their weaponry. All we can do wait; a chance may come up?

Cyberleader: Take them. Resistance Denied. You will be like us.

The Doctor: Oh hogwash to ‘You will be like us!’ Why should we become like you? What have you got to possibly interest us? Hah? That’s got you stumped, bet you never thought you’d be asked that?

Cyberleader: You will be like us. Superior.

The Doctor: You superior? Hah! That’s a joke if ever I heard it from you lot!
Emotionless, unfeeling, heartless machines! That’s what you are. Compared to the rest of the universe, we’re the superior ones!

Cyberleader: You are not personnel from this military complex. Who are you?

The Doctor: Just visitors, like yourselves. Or rather ex-prisoners of this base.

Cyberleader: You will be like us.

The Doctor: Yes, yes, yes we’ve all ready heard that one enough times!

Kerri: What does he mean?

Cyberleader: We will remove inferior qualities in your brains. You will be taken for processing. You will become like us. Superior!

The Doctor: It’s the only thing they’re competent at doing or rather saying. The rest goes from bad to plain boring. I mean why would anyone want to become a calculator on legs is beyond me?

Cyberleader: Silence. These humans will be processed. They will go to the freighter for cybernetic conversion.

Cybermen: Understood leader.

The Doctor: Oh a freighter is it? Your fortified cyber control I take it?

Cyberleader: Silence. If you attempt to communicate again you will be damaged.

Kerri: No need to push! Doctor?

The Doctor: If I can just get this electro-thing to work. Charging, good! Oh yes, come on Kerri.

{They start to walk off. A few paces down the corridor, the device in the Doctor’s coat gives a high-satisfied bleep.}

Cyberleader: Halt. What was that noise?

The Doctor: Oh sorry? You want me to speak do you? Um I don’t know come on then time’s a wasting! Now look there’s no good rounding on me! I’m not impressed nor scared by your appearance so you’re not get anything out of me! Trying to assess the situation aren’t you? Ow! Would you please get your hand off my wrist? Aahh! No need to grip so tightly!

Kerri: Doctor what’s going on?

The Doctor: We’re going to be converted. Come on Kerri if our gaolers will let me go? Ow! Look if you release my arm from your grip I think we’ll get there a lot quicker!

Cyberleader: You will answer my question. What was that noise?

The Doctor: Oh that noise. I think it came from within my pocket? Hey you stop that!

{The Cyberleader starts to search through his pockets.}

Kerri: Doctor, I’m scared!

The Doctor: No need to be Kerri, if this metallic misfit will get his hand out of my pocket? We might just shed light on the subjects! Look get off, I’ll deal with it!

Cyberleader: Do not attempt to deceive us.

The Doctor: I wouldn’t dare after all you’ve both got those sonic disrupters on your chest panels aimed right at me! You think I’d stand a chance against you lot? Please let me deal with it?
God knows what damage you’ve done down there? Let me see: An apple core, no. Several bracelets, ornate and from various places. This one in particular came from the hand of Princess Tzandia of the Corrinfens Empire, beautiful place that is, you know I can even remember those nights, where the stars would continually shift position in honour of…

Cyberleader: Silence. You will reveal the device to us or your companion will be severely damaged.

The Doctor: Sorry about that Kerri. I was gabbling, do that sometimes when I’m nervous especially when someone pointing a big gun at my head!
Sorry? A Phantanian conch shell, I must sort these pockets through one day, for all I know it could be mice. No that one’s clear.
The other pocket perhaps? Ah here it is. This must be it. Hey! Hey! There’s no need to snatch! Be careful that’s a very precious piece of equipment.

Cyberleader: What is its function?

The Doctor: Oh nothing special. Careful, knowing your strength you’ll crush it in a second! It’s a single cell laser torch it can cut through anything: wood, plastic, metal. Thick metal!

Cyberleader: It is a weapon?

The Doctor: Oh nothing so mundane. It wouldn’t harm anyone… much unless they were at a close range.

Cyberleader: You will demonstrate its action.

The Doctor: I wouldn’t recommend it, you might get damaged?

Kerri: Aah! Help me! Ow! Argh! He’s got me. His fingers are digging into my shoulders!

The Doctor: Please, there’s no need to harm Kerri?

Cyberleader: You will demonstrate to us the weapon or the female will be damaged.

Kerri: Aargghh!

The Doctor: All right, all right! I’ll do it. Provided your friend there releases his grip on Kerri?

Kerri: Doctor! My Arms, they’re pulling them off!

The Doctor: Please?

Cyberleader: Release the female.

1st Cyberman: Yes Leader.

Kerri: Oh thank you!

The Doctor: Kerri you can stand up now! Are you all right?

Kerri: My arms feel like they’re about to fall off, aside from that fine!

Cyberleader: Demonstrate the effectiveness.

The Doctor: But I have to handle it.

Cyberleader: Crush the female.

Cyberman: Yes Leader.

The Doctor: No. Fine, you hold it, just like that, if I might. Like that so the pointed end is facing forward and then you press the second control and it works like that.

Cyberleader: Release the female.

Cyberman: Yes Leader.

The Doctor: I think it would be best if you all look at it and don’t worry about us we’re not going anywhere… yet?

Cyberleader: Resistance Denied. If you attempt to escape we will kill you.

The Doctor: But of course, the second button. Now Kerri!

{The device bleeps and it flashes. The result is expected.}

Cyberleader: Danger! They have gone, the image is blank.

Cybermen: Visual data has temporarily ceased, unable to focus?

The Doctor: That’s the general idea old chap! Come on Kerri before the effect wears off?

Kerri: But my legs Doctor! I don’t think I can run?

The Doctor: I can’t just leave you here, come on, you have to run to the TARDIS. It isn’t that far away!

Cyberleader: Locate and kill them!

Cybermen: Leader.

The Doctor: Come on, give me your hand! Now run as fast as your legs can manage?

Kerri: I’ll try.

{They scurry off down the corridor.}

The Doctor: It’s down here now, right I think?

Kerri: You think? I think they can see us? Look, they’re coming now!

1st Cyberman: Humans will remain still.

The Doctor: In that case we keep on running!

2nd Cyberman: Halt immediately or you will be killed!

The Doctor: Down Kerri!

{The weapon discharges. Like a rocket launcher, the blast shoots out and hits a far wall and explodes!}

The Doctor: Wait a moment there? That storeroom. That’s where the TARDIS is!

Kerri: I think it’s trying to re-aim?

{Another blast explodes close by.}

The Doctor: Quickly, here help me with the door, blast it’s locked!

Kerri: Try pushing it?

The Doctor: Okay, worth a try. Yes quickly before he fires again?

Cyberman: Targets acquired.

{It fires. The blast hits the area and explodes causing the wall to cave in.
As the debris slows, the Doctor and Kerri rise to their feet, coughing and spluttering!}

The Doctor: Oh my head! Kerri?

Kerri: I’ll be okay. What about you?

The Doctor: Nothing broken but… Oh my coat, torn by a robot, stretched by a Cyberman, coated in oil and covered in dust! Oh, this too much!

Kerri: At least we’re safe now? The doors look, bricks surrounding them.

The Doctor: That blast must have started a cave in? It could continue unless we hurry!

Kerri: Doctor, I think you’re right?

The Doctor: Quickly Kerri!

{The door to the TARDIS opens.}

Kerri: Why we’re safe enough?

The Doctor: For the moment. As soon as they realise we’re still alive they’ll dig us out here or… destroy this entire area! So we’d better get into safety.

Kerri: Anything to rest these feet of mine.

The Doctor: To be safe I’m setting the co-ordinates at neutral that should put us to safety?

INTERIOR. TARDIS. CONSOLE ROOM.

{Many instruments working, controls hum with power.}

The Doctor: Closing the doors, watch your fingers Kerri!

{The doors shut.}

The Doctor: Right now that’s done we’ll deal with those wounds of yours Kerri.
Kerri? Oh Kerri. Collapsed, hmm her pulse is still going? Ah those wounds of hers, they’re bleeding. If you would be so good to?
Just lift you up, ugh? Be a bit more helpful Kerri, even though you are unconscious. Now I’ll see what we can do in the sanatorium.

{He pushes open the doors and carries Kerri through.}

Cut to:
INTERIOR. CORRIDOR.

{The Cyberleader and the others stand at the blocked entrance.}

Cyberleader: Report.

1st Cyberman: Door sealed off by cave in, the result of the blast impact.

2nd Cyberman: We are unable to penetrate the area.

1st Cyberman: Scan detects the humanoid life signs beyond the rock fall.

Cyberleader: I will report to control immediate. Internal antenna system activated: This is Cyberleader unit 112 reporting to Control.

CYBERNET: This is Cyberleader Vraw to control. Collection group four has encountered two unknown humanoid intruders within human military complex. They have escaped containment and now are sealed within air pocket. We are unable to penetrate. Advise?>>
Humanoids must be captured for cybernetic conversion. Utilise digging equipment, uncover the room and contain them.>>
These humanoids were not military personnel, all Terrans have been accounted for.>>
The male Caucasian. What of the conversion scan of this humanoid?>>
It registered as unknown in the species databank of this unit.>>
Transmit data immediate to control.>>
Yes Commander.>>
Bio signature matched with files. The male is an enemy, he is known as the Doctor. He possesses time travel technology. He must be captured for interrogation. He is immobilised. Delay order for capture and resume processing of humans.>>
Understood Commander.>>

Cyberleader: Resume collection.

Cybermen: Understood Leader.

{They walk off.}

Cyberleader: When the collection of humanoids is complete you will return to the control and await orders.

Cybermen: Leader.

Cut to:
INTERIOR. CONSOLE ROOM.

The Doctor: Now that’s Kerri dealt with. A few deep bruises into the arms and shoulders, mild radiation exposure and a cyber-gun burn. All in all a few good days rest will help her a great deal!
Now to resume course for? The Arcadia. But where is it? Hmm?
Now to display a holographic image of the area surrounding the military base would be nice?
{The screen comes alive with a flickering hologram.}
Oh, thank you, shame you couldn’t get a better picture but no matter? Well at least I’ve got something to look at? Yes the base does go on for quite a long way. Right, now if I were to focus in on those mountains to the far right of the screen.
{The screen changes.}
Ah much better, thank you old girl. A nice, bleak landscape. No sign of life for ages. Black dust storms or through this screen they’re light black? If there is such as thing? And right down there in the corner of the screen. Zoom in please?
{The screen constantly changes.}
All right! Hold it there! Ah that must be the freighter that Cyberleader mentioned, Octarian as well. But it’s too far for them to travel from there at least eight miles away?
How odd though, those Cybermen I met seemed quite out of place less sophisticated as the last time I saw them. They must be on their last legs… extinction not too far away unless of course?
Would you awfully mind old girl if you were to invert your scan upwards?
The sky. Closer please.
{The screen changes.}
Space that’s better, what is that? Interesting, the scan identifies the object as a defence satellite unit? This place must be thoroughly important in the federation books.
Records suggest that with the solar system, as it is one world and six moons as being Vandor Prime. Ah, that place, now as memory serves it was involved in the early stages of the war and then… it became uninhabitable for a few centuries and then taken over by Longatarr entertainment spa.
Now then what about those moons could I have the first one please?
First moon, known as Graith. An oxygen rich atmosphere, dense vegetation a multitude of animal life.
Second moon Arkal. Nitrogen and Argon based atmosphere. Ninety percent water based surface. No animal life.
Third moon Keylor. Null atmosphere, rocky, barren surface. Total tundra region.
Fourth moon Celat. Null atmosphere. Hot desert region. Unknown readings.
Fifth moon Kres. Oxygen/ Carbon dioxide atmosphere…
Wait a moment, unknown readings? I wonder what that means?

{There is a multitude of blips and bleeps in response.}

The Doctor: Yes, thank you no need to be so clever, if you wouldn’t mind?

{There is a slow steady beep.
The screen changes: Distant rumbling, huge power drives, lights gleam menacingly.}

The Doctor: Oh my! As I thought, they weren’t the only cyber-contingent in this region, three cyber warships no doubt holding the main cyber force, now that alters everything.

{The deep humming of the ships’ engines slowly ceases and dually replaced by the static hissing of the screen.}

The Doctor: What are they up to? Or more to the point, what are they waiting for? A stealth attack like this requires some kind kind of agenda but what? Hello? What’s this control flashing for?

{Several bleeps and blips respond to him.}

Unknown readings from a lateral object located in the North, Northwest from the base. Some sort of transport vehicle?
Good. I can see everything. A deep valley with huge ridges on either side and there smack bang in the centre is the vehicle. It’s one of those landing crafts and excreting large volumes of smoke. It looks like it’s sustained battle damage and it’s heading for that boulder. Look out you fool! You’re going to hit it! Look out… I’m a fool they can’t hear me no matter how loud I shout?

{An explosion blares out.}

The Doctor: Oh dear? That’s them finished! The last remnants of the Terran base, didn’t get that far, the poor people? They must have been heading for that object, no; it’s a building of some sort? Looks a lot like an old missile silo, sensors detect lower levels.
That must be the Arcadia! I shall set co-ordinates for that station at once.

{Suddenly the TARDIS is rocked by an enormous rumble followed by a shrill of squealed bleeps and whines.}

What? What’s the matter? Oh, I see the station is surrounded by a large interference field so that’s why you can’t arrive?
Okay then I don’t want to argue there, so how about you set us down as close to the Arcadia as possible?
Good! That will give me just enough time to change my attire. And this time to something strong, tough but also looks also shows off my level of high intellect, don’t want to be mistaken for an ignorant native, now do I?

{He leaves the room and the door closes.}

Cut to:
INTERIOR. FREIGHTER.

{The electric heartbeat pulses with power as huge pistons hiss and the engine reverberates.}

Cyber Com: Report progress.

1st Cyberman: Two levels of conversion decks now full. Lower level has achieved first phase conversion. Subjects will be fully converted within the hour.

2nd Cyberman: Collection group three arriving on skimmer with conversion subjects.

Cyber Com: Instruments show levels four to nine vacant. Conversion subjects will be taken to these levels immediate.

Cybermen: Understood.

{The skimmer comes to the edge of the freighter. As the Cybermen come to collect the humans a few gasp and grunt in agony as the Cyberman take hold of them.}

Wells: Get off me! Get off me, you evil… General! General! Help me? Please, you’ve got to get these things off?

Gen. Durrant: Commander Wells, My God, what are they doing here?

Wells: They’re killing us all, you evil bastards, let us go, let us go!

The Cybermen drag him back but he makes a run for it.

Wells: I’m away, I’m free. General, we have to get these things, we have to…

{There is a snap and his body falls to the ground.}

Cyberman: Conversion subject terminated.

Cyber Com: Continue processing.

Gen. Durrant: Wells! You… you… You sick bastards! You sick twisted bastards! I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you, you sick evil bastards!

Cyber Com: Defiance is useless. You will surrender.

Gen. Durrant: Surrender? You killed him! You killed him, right there and you want me to surrender? Damn you, you sick, sick bastards! What is this? Revenge for us killing one of your kind? He was defenceless and you killed him, you’re killing my people!

Cyber Com: Begin Conversion scan.

{Data filters across the computer screen.}

1st Cyberman: Humanoid female is compatible. Mental scan indicates unstable state, probable traumatic exposure.

Gen. Durrant: Traumatic! I am General Sandra Durrant of the Earth Federation! And you vicious evil bastards are killing my men. What is this hellhole? Why the hell are you things doing this? Answer me, damn you!

Cyber Com: Process this human.

Cyberman: Commander.

Gen. Durrant: You, get off me! I said get your hands off me or you’ll be sorry! I’ll tear you limb from limb you cruel bastard! What the? What is this place? What are you?

Cyber Com: Instigate immediate tranquillisation to prevent further damage to conversion subject.

Cyberman: Yes Commander.

Gen. Durrant: I can see… my God! My God! What the hell are you doing to my men? You’re cutting them up! You’re cutting and slicing my men! What is this, some fricking butcher’s shop! What are doing to them? WHO ARE YOU?

Cyber Com: We are the future. We are Cybermen. You will be like us.

Gen Durrant: Oh, my God! Get me out of this thing! GET ME OUT!

{Suddenly the whirring of machines starts up, blades spin and scrape loudly.}

{From a console comes a steady bleep.}

Cyber Com: Report!

2nd Cyberman: Message from control ship. An unknown energy signature has been located within human military complex.

Cyber Com: The enemy’s time ship! He must be captured.

2nd Cyberman: Message continues: Residual temporal particles located in sector nine.

Cyber Com: Contact all scout units in that area. The Time ship must be captured and our enemy contained for interrogation.

Cut to:
INTERIOR. ARCADIA.

{Over the com- the supply crew make their report.}

Pilot: Are you still there Professor?

Ruscoe: Still here, any luck?

Pilot: None whatsoever.

Harker: Any further confirmation from the base?

Pilot: As I said we…>> ...much interference.

Harker: Not again please?

Ruscoe: Have you visual confirmation of the base yet?

Pilot: Not as yet we’re in some pretty thick cloud cover at the moment.
There’s a lot of lightning up here; we’ll be out soon.

Harker: Well when you’re clear can you tell us what’s happened.

Pilot: Will do.

Jannon: Wait, look it’s clearing. Good God!

Macmillan: Ready to lower down. That’s the base. Are you sure?

Harker: What’s going on?

Pilot: It’s the base!

Ruscoe: Can you give us visual?

Pilot: Sure.

{The screen flashes up!}

Ruscoe: Dear God!

Harker: This is the base? Are showing us the correct image Pilot?

Pilot: Doesn’t look it does it? A bit of a wreck now wouldn’t you say?

Harker: Wreck! It looks like an earthquake has hit it? It’s been shaken apart!

Ruscoe: Or a few bombs have hit it! Totally subsided, almost ruined! Something did this but by the look of it, it would have had to be travelling at an enormous speed?

Jannon: One thing’s for certain. It was big!

Harker: Have you tried scanning the ruins, even using thermal vision?

Jannon: We could give it a try but I think the chances of anyone still down there alive could be very low.

Pilot: Don’t argue, just do it!

{He flicks on another screen.}

Jannon: What did I tell you.

Harker: There’s no one there. No trace of heat in the entire base!

Ruscoe: That doesn’t make me feel very confident at the moment. Can you confirm this is the actual scan?

Pilot: No doubt about it, we’ve double checked it… they’re all dead!

Harker: Dead! What are saying? They’re not dead?

Ruscoe: With nothing to shield them, there would be movement and thermal traces! They’re gone and I doubt they would all decide to leave at exactly the same time pop outside and decide to go for a walk!

{The alarm sounds out.}

Harker: What’s going on now?

Jannon: A movement trace detected in the left quadrant of the base.

Pilot: Got it! Can you zoom in?

Macmillan: That looks like some kind of figure?

Harker: But no heat trace?

Jannon: Must be a malfunction?

Ruscoe: What are you going to do?

Pilot: Prepare for landing conditions!

Harker: You’re going to land that thing?

Pilot: We’re going to scout around see what we can find!

Harker: But what about the danger out there?

Pilot: Don’t you worry about Macmillan, Doctor? He’s the best marksman around and he’s going in well armed! Don’t you worry about him but worry about the enemy!
Okay we’ll…>> …cut the..>>…for a time>>

Harker: We’ve lost them. Just like the others! What now?

Ruscoe: We wait, that is all we can do. Where is that robot with my test subject?

{The door opens.}

Max: Where do you want the test subject?

Ruscoe: Over there by the containment bay. You’re late!

Max: Apologises Sir. I’m connecting the test control to the Electro- compound.

Ruscoe: Fine. Where is Paskin?

Max: He said sleep was more important!

Ruscoe: I would have thought that he would have wanted to see this but at least I can have your attention Doctor?

Harker: I don’t know how you can remain so calm when an entire military base has been destroyed! The whole platoon vanished, probably dead? Some soldiers are investigating the unknown and you’re talking and carrying on with your work as if it were a summer’s day!

Ruscoe: If they find anything they’ll deal with it. If not, we can do nothing about it now except get a chance to complete our work here.

{He unzips the body bag.}

Ruscoe: If I can just unzip the container, yes. Here we are: behold the face of the enemy! Ugly looking brute isn’t it?

Harker: How will you know if it has any effect? It is after all dead!

Ruscoe: Kept preserved in cold storage actually, we’ll just have to see what happens
Now activating compound control. Connector tubes now aligned with body. Raising plastic shielding. Open Electro-gate!
Three cultures have been prepared, now they pass down the connector tubes, on contact with subject they will take affect! Starting timer. Begin!

{SFX: Rattles and bleeps.}

Harker: What’s going on now?

Ruscoe: Contact has been made. Hopefully the research will have paid off?

Harker: The armour plating of the suit… it’s dissolving! Melting away? They’re eating it!

Ruscoe: Yes and all of them working together simultaneously. Breaking down the armoured exterior with a powerful enzyme then attacking the weak organic interior crushing it apart molecule by molecule!

Harker: It’s almost gone too!

Ruscoe: Aren’t they unique and the timing is a little under a minute too! Of course I’ll have to alter the measurement because when used in the field there will be much resistance to the constructors from active units.
Wait and there we have it in just less than seventy-two seconds.
Okay Max you can dispose of this one.

Max: What shall I do with it Sir?

Ruscoe: Use your mind! Go and put it outside.

Max: Yes Sir!

{He pushes the trolley away.
Clunk! Clunk! Clunk!}

Harker: But the problem of an outbreak?

Ruscoe: Oh there’s nothing to worry about there. They are programmed purely to attack anyone with the enemy’s DNA in them. We’re quite safe unless you have a confession to make?

Harker: What about the insects on that unit? You’re not going to leave them are you?

Ruscoe: They have a limited life span. For an hour at the very least, they’ll corrode and die outside.

Harker: I see, so this is a complete success for your work then Professor?

Ruscoe: It seems that way, what about yours Doctor, when do I get to see your great project?

Harker: Almost done, tell me why do you need supplies from the ship?

Ruscoe: Well these weapons…-these creatures are perfectly complete save for the parts for a control box!

Harker: You mean you have no real control over them?

Ruscoe: Well at close range only, just put them in the right direction and well they’re not very compatible with the field test.

Harker: I was going to congratulate you but I can safely say that my work is ten times superior to anything you’ve created! Where is that fool Phillips? I would have thought he would have wanted to see your pathetic little creatures in action?

{But on a concealed camera in Phillips’ laboratory he watching them with anticipation.}

Phillips: Oh but I did Helen. Watching over you pathetic fools from this place is like a man regarding the insects in his garden! One wrong move and SPLAT! You’re finished; soon very soon, I the humble gardner will finally exterminate the pests in his garden!
Now I believe is the preparation time. Time to let people understand the power I hold!

Cut to:
EXTERIOR. ROCKY PLAIN.

{As the TARDIS materialises the wind howls all around then it falls and the sound echoes everywhere around.}

INTERIOR. TARDIS.

{The Doctor enters hands on lapels; carefully he brushes his waistcoat down.}

The Doctor: There much better. Oh dear a lot colder than I expected? Hmm looks like I’ll need that coat after all? But I can’t wear it. Aside from being too heavy and it does tend clash with what I’m wearing presently in the wind it makes me look like I have bat wings! Oh well, beggars can’t be chooses?
Now anything else? Yes wind speed unusually high and at minus five degrees. Oh!
Now should I wake up Kerri? No, best not, she needs to heal and to get better!
Gravity normal. Radiation: Negative.
The scanner! Well I never? Faint heat traces: survivors or a survivor from the wreck. Must have been thrown from the blast impact. They need help. And looks urgent too?

{He presses the control and the door slides down.
Quickly he hurries out into the howling winds.
Outside it is a blizzard.}

The Doctor: God it’s cold out here! I can hardly see the ground let alone the body. I must hurry, I can’t stay out here too long and neither can that poor chap either!
Wait is that? God this sandstorm is tough! In fact I think the wind’s speed is increasing every second. I must rest, if there was only something to hold on to out here?
Wait, that sandbank looks well sheltered, it’s the only shelter round here where I can recover my bearings?

Cut to:
INTERIOR. ARCADIA LABORATORY.

{The four orbs are arranged on a fountain-like structure. Glowing with power.
Observing the work is Sorcha. And Phillips watches the monitors.}

Phillips: There we go, the temporal scan has picked out the precise co-ordinates, a large, dense blob of unstable chronol energy, prepare the controls Sorcha. This time it will work!

Sorcha: I don’t understand you Sir? Why are we aiming this thing at a pocket of time energy, why not choose something else? A constellation? A sun about to go supernova? Why hi-jack the power systems just to perform this pointless experiment?

Phillips: POINTLESS! Sorcha, this is not pointless. This device when assembled like this can theoretically puncture time; it could evolve a species to its ultimate form and then to dust. Wipe an entire planet, its life both plant and animal from all existence.
It would be easier to target a star, something immeasurably dangerous and powerful but that pocket is tough, charged anti-matter. A pocket filled time storm holding molecule upon molecule of an event. Sometime in the past, a hiccup if you would and by bursting that bubble we will prove the grand superiority of this weapon!
And also because I order it Sorcha, now make the preparations. Nothing and no one must interfere, you understand?

Sorcha: Yes Mr Phillips, I… are you feeling all right? You seem troubled? Perhaps we should do this later?

Phillips: No Sorcha, I’m feeling fine. Perhaps I will take a rest but after this work is done! Now then, what are they up to? What are they doing?

{He flicks through various screens until he centres on one with all of them in the communications room.}

Paskin: Look, its as I said Phillips looked mental. He’s going to do another of his experiments and you know what that means!

Harker: He’s looked mad ever since he came here but he wouldn’t dare do another stunt, not after my talk with him?

Paskin: Doc, he literally shoved me into the wall to get to his lab, he doing something all right and I do not want another breakdown, freezing in this place while he cackles away!

Ruscoe: Cackles? He actually laughs at us? At our misfortunes?

Harker: I’ve heard him. So what do we do- nothing as usual?

Paskin: No, we can stop him.

Harker: How do we do that?

Paskin: Simple Doc, the power lines to the base split off as they head towards his lab. We’ll disable them, give him a breakdown he’ll never forget!

Ruscoe: So it’s agreed then, we stop Phillips but what about his surveillance cameras? How can we stop him from tracking our movements?

Paskin: I’ve all ready got Max down there now sorting it out as we speak. Soon he’ll be really annoyed, can’t complain though the amount of time he’s messed us about!

Ruscoe: Doesn’t sound that easy, what if he’s watching us now?

Harker: He can’t do much. We need to finish our work! He isn’t the only one who works around here!

{Phillips shuts the screen off!}

Phillips: Can’t do much! Oh Doctor Harker I will show you all what I capable of! Is everything prepared?

Sorcha: Of course it is Sir, the scan is no locked on the patch of time energy.

Phillips: Good! By bombarding the orbs with positive electrons it will greatly increase the destructive nature. However these orbs were in my opinion generated by the void in a spatial time nexus. So their true nature is temporal based and there are many ways to manipulate time itself!
And with these orbs the destructive power of time can be controlled or directed!
So programme the projectors to synthesise temporal particles, by projecting them into the orbs as they reach maximum power will ensure that the target is not only destroyed but completely obliterated.

Sorcha: Okay Sir, accessing power nodes. Temporal particle matrix concept added to the programme.

Phillips: They will all see that I unlike anyone else I am truly prepared for every eventuality! We will initiate the process within five minutes time and then at zero-hour we will see who ‘Can’t do much!’
And now for the other formality!

Cut to:
EXTERIOR. ROCKY PLAIN.

{Sand and dust are blown in all directions. As wind howls all around.}

The Doctor: When will this wind let off? I’ve been here for… how many minutes? Just check my watch.
Good God, I can’t feel my hands! No wonder I can’t they’re red, bright red!
I’ve been out here too long. Blood must be starting to congeal. I have to get back to the TARDIS at once.

{He starts to trudge through the thick sand towards the ship.}

The Doctor: Almost there but the survivor, I have to do something for him? Oh these clothes will have to suffice for the time being. Now I have to reach him, get him inside where it’s warm!
Come on legs? Move it!

{He slowly creeps towards the body.}

The Doctor: Oh it’s no use. I can’t move my legs! I’m so close now, I’ll have to crawl, drag myself along, and typical I chose these clothes on style and not comfort!
Now be a bit more co-operative knees bend. That’s better now crawl, must get to him!

{The wind howls around him as he pulls himself closer to the body.}

The Doctor: Oh Kerri, What have I done?

Cut to:
INTERIOR. CONSOLE ROOM.

{The ship hums with power. The door swings open and in walks Kerri.}

Kerri: Doctor? Where are you? The Doctor?

{There is suddenly a cackling, hissing laugh coming from all around.}

Kerri: Who’s there? Doctor?

Shadow: Your friend the Doctor is not present within his TARDIS.

Kerri: Who said that? Come on out and show yourself!

Shadow: Show myself? No, not yet child but I can show you your friend’s whereabouts? He is not far from here, outside in the freezing conditions.

Kerri: What? I have to help him? Wait! Who are you? How do you know that?

Shadow: See for yourself child, on the TARDIS’ scanner.

{There is a whine as the scanner fizzles into action showing the Doctor outside.}

Shadow: As for myself girl, think of me as a messenger. Outside the Doctor is finished; he will soon perish from the temperature loss, as will you. You see the TARDIS is locked, sealed off thanks to your friend and you will die of old age!

Kerri: But the Doctor? Let me out of here! Let me out!

Shadow: I’m afraid that is out of the question, my work, my purpose cannot be interfered with. The Doctor will suffer now just as I have, my wrath will soon be complete!

Shock cut to:
INTERIOR. ARCADIA-LABORATORY.

{Inside the research base, in the main laboratory.
The power levels are rising!}

Sorcha: The temporal particle volume is now reaching seventy-five percent. Did you hear me Sir?

Phillips: Perfectly so my dear Sorcha. I am simply resting my eyes; my mind is on other things. Prepare to isolate the control booth.

Sorcha: Standing by.

Phillips: Now then, how are they doing? Progress on those foolish peers of mine.

{He flicks on a screen, displaying them.}

Ruscoe: What happens if something goes wrong?

Paskin: What’s he going to do, kill us? How’s it going down there Max?

{Max on another monitor.}

Max: Coming up to the last cable now, should be completed in a few minutes.

Dr. Harker: Excellent! You just keep it coming. Anything further from Base forty-three?

Paskin: Nothing. Anyway we’ve got better things to do.

Ruscoe: Agreed but we still need those supplies from the base!

Dr. Harker: Agreed but sitting around here isn’t going to achieve much.

Paskin: Well as soon as Max has finished his job, we’ll all get on, speaking of which I’ve had problems?

Ruscoe: What do you mean problems?

Paskin: The dust storms, they’re interfering with our scanners, internal and outwards, perhaps that’s the reason why there’s a communication fault with the base?

Dr. Harker: Right. Good thinking Paskin! As soon as Max is finished get him onto the communications antennae.

Ruscoe: Right, but what about Phillips? Doesn’t he have this place bugged or something?

Paskin: No, just a myth- a story he put up to keep us on our toes! He wouldn’t dare bug or listen in on any of our conversations?

{Just then there is crash of metal outside followed by scuttling feet.}

Dr. Harker: What the devil?

Ruscoe: What’s going on out there?

Paskin: I’m going to find out!

{He crosses to the door, which slides open.
Outside various records lie spread across the floor.}

Ruscoe: What is it?

Paskin: Phillips playing tricks on us by the look of it? He must have Sorcha scuttling around listening in on us. Max, Cut the cable now!

{Phillips shuts the screen off.}

Phillips: Fools! You stupid imbeciles, I’ll sort them out!

Sorcha: Ready to introduce power globes.

Phillips: Activate them now!

Sorcha: Mr Phillips please? We have to do this precisely!

Phillips: Precisely? Sorcha, by the time we act on precision we will have no power left! Introducing all four globes into the power shaft.

Sorcha: The effect! Activating immediate isolation.

{She presses a control and the door seals itself!}

Phillips: No? The power levels they’re not rising. Why?

Sorcha: The containment units. Sir, we have to use them for safety, it was Barclay’s way.

Phillips: Safety went out of the picture the moment those fools interfered! They tried to stop you the first time round and now we will show your enemies the power we wield!
For Barclay’s sake and for yours, risks must be made. Deactivating your shields now, everything must work, the experiment must proceed!

Sorcha: No, it’s too dangerous!

Phillips: There. Look… Power levels reaching eighty percent already and they’ve just been exposed! What is the full extent of your power? My people, soon revenge will be ours!

Sorcha: Fool! We need the temporal shield?

Phillips: Not at all Sorcha, the power won’t affect us, you have my assurances on that!

{Lightning crackles over each of the globes.}
Phillips: Look at it. Look at the power Sorcha! The time is arising for us all, since the signal went down then your enemies are here and we must take care of them before they decide to take care of us!

Sorcha: The temporal particles are… impossible, they’re reacting with the air?

Phillips: Yes, look the atmosphere inside is changing, shifting. Atoms bonding into others, the fabric of reality tearing and slicing, forming into new shapes and new substance!

Sorcha: It’s impossible! It’s mimicking water? Water floating but there’s no zero gravity present?

Phillips: It’s shifting again, tides forming, tides rolling backwards and forwards across all of time itself and there at its centre the storm is cracking, I… I can feel it breaking under pressure!

Sorcha: It seems to be changing directing? Heading inwards, spiralling: It’s becoming a whirlpool!

Phillips: It is a beautiful sight, Sorcha! Expanding and contracting the living pulse of life and death, all the colours of the rainbow and more. Look now, something’s happening, something is tearing time open and revealing to us its glory!

Sorcha: Impossible all readings suggest it’s reacting with the fabric of the particles of the void! That’s not possible? It’s turned over on it’s side and hanging there too! A hole in space, the orbs are charging, they’re going to fire.

Phillips: Exactly, now if I alter the settings, just so- that bubble of time energy should dissipate then all will be ready!

Sorcha: Its firing! Get down Sir, get down!

Phillips: At last! The greatest gift that I will give to you my people.

{The orbs fire and immediately there is a small explosion, which the sound is slowly, sucked up and vanishes.}

Sorcha: What was that? Our instruments are no longer functioning!

Phillips: Look now, the control column has gone. Destroyed and absorbed! Floating there on its own and alone. Powerful and superior!

Sorcha: I can’t tell what’s going on? But it looks like it’s having an effect on the area surrounding it! My God look! It’s extending beyond the room; the scale is… impossible to read. The temporal shield is barely holding? What have you done Mr Phillips? The backwash is coming!

Phillips: Perfect! At last I am ready for you all. The future is bleak, the future is mine!

Cut to:
EXTERIOR. ROCKY PLAIN.

{Finally the Doctor reaches the survivor’s body.}

The Doctor: There, I’m here soon have you in the warmth. Can you hear me? You’re all right now! Well I hope you are.
Come on, try to stand, I need help to get you inside.
Good thing Kerri’s inside, much safer for her!

Body: And you. If you’d stayed?

The Doctor: What? Oh no!

Grell: Surprised? You should be!

The Doctor: Not really, you’re the reason why I’m here. Tell me, where is that brute of yours that shot down most of the delegates?

Grell: So, you were on the station? You should have died!

The Doctor: I saw the aftermath of what you did, where is Mansk? And the artefact?

Grell: You ask too many questions Doctor. My… foolish disciple is over there. So don’t try to escape, he’s got you well covered!

The Doctor: I wouldn’t dream of it and I couldn’t anyway. I can’t feel my legs. Serious frostbite it seems? I imagine you’re the reason for the Cyber presence on this planet?

Grell: Cyber presence? All we did was stir up a bit of trouble at the base!

The Doctor: Trouble? You call an all out war zone trouble?

Grell: Good wasn’t it? Anyway we don’t bargain with aliens, you should know that by now! We take what we need, never bargain, got it?

The Doctor: Oh I don’t know about that, what are you doing on this planet?

Grell: Has it escaped your notice that I’ve got a gun pointing at your skull? Shut it! I’m the one in charge, now get up!

The Doctor: I told you that I can’t. I can’t feel anything below my waist or up to my elbows!

Grell: I said stand!

{He picks him up.}

Grell: There now, much better! Best to finally look you in the eye one last time before your execution!

The Doctor: Look there’s no need for this? We are in terrible danger here!

Grell: You got that right but it ain’t us! This is for everything you’ve done to us since we met! You’re not going to stop us now!

The Doctor: You must listen to me? The Cybermen have taken over that operations base and they’ve most likely to have reinforcements on the way!

Grell: Cybermen? They’re dead! All gone since the Hydrogratz array!

The Doctor: Can you be sure of that? Something damaged your vehicle that’s why you bailed out. And from the damage I can see it looks like the result of an energy weapon.
Grell: Silence, you fool! Prepare yourself to die, know what I mean- pray!

The Doctor: These Cybermen use energy weapons on their chest packs, enough to kill a human and cause considerable damage to machinery. In fact when you left that battle they had just invaded it! The lives of countless of people are going to be threatened because of your stubbornness to listen. The Cybermen came here for a reason, you are here, they are here and the centre of time disruptions lead from here. Cybermen and time travel don’t mix so unless you…

Grell: I said quiet!

{He hits the Doctor across the face and he falls forwards into the sand.}

The Doctor: A last request then: There are bound to be cyber-scouts everywhere, how can you hope to deliver the orb without being captured or killed?

Grell: What do you know of the orb?

The Doctor: It’s from Canterraka-a chronol crystal plucked from the void, very powerful in the right conditions.

Grell: Well that’s all you’re going to know. Goodbye Doctor!

{Just then his radio hisses.}

Grell: Mansk, I told you never to interrupt me when I’m about to execute, understand?

Mansk: Sorry to cut your meal short Messiah but I’m picking up interference on the auto-tracker. Centred close to your current position.

Grell: Not important! The area still clear?

Mansk: Checks out! That interference field is moving closer to your position, similar readings to those in the lander craft… Messiah.

The Doctor: Messiah? I never thought that you werelox went into much religion, nor did I ever picture you as the leader of a cult?

Grell: A new order, Doctor, that is what I will be. My church, my order and no one disobeys me!

The Doctor: Really? Now I’ve heard that one before from oh, so many fiends, wanton revolutionaries, despots and dominators and it’s old news. Yellowing, wrinkled news rotting in a dustbin, your cult will fall through, they always do.

Grell: I didn’t ask for your OPINION! Now you die Doctor, for my greater good!

The Doctor: Wait just a moment? Energy weapons create interference with scanning equipment; it’s a known fact! If weapon hit your craft first then it must have been a scout, acting to get you, Mansk and myself into a situation like this?

Grell: Will you ever shut up? There are no Cybermen here!

Cut to:
EXTERIOR. ROCKY PLAIN-VALLEY.

{Data scrolls off the internal scanner as the scout surveys the area.
As it moves over everything in turn there is a bleep as it focuses on certain objects.
Suddenly there is a heavy buzz and bleeping.}

Cyber-Scout: Scan complete. Temporal particle trace detected. The time ship now occupying co-ordinates 943 of sector nine.
Three humanoids in close proximity. Beginning Conversion scan:
{Data moves faster, power rising in pitch until finally it slows.}
Scan complete, three humanoids have unknown bio data to this unit. Transmitting data.

CYBERNET: This is scout unit 103 to control. I possess the co-ordinates of the time ship, transmitting co-ordinates. Three humanoids in the area all have unknown data, two are hostile life forms possessing crude weaponry. Await instruction:>>
We have received the data. The two hostile life forms are unacceptable for conversion. The other is the time traveller. Records imply he is known as the Doctor. Capture alive but remain wary, he is intelligent and dangerous.>>
Understood Commander.>>

{Data streams across the screen.}

The hostile life forms are in range, am preparing to fire.

Cut to:
INTERIOR. ARCADIA-LABORATORY.

{The experiment continues:}

Phillips: At last, everything is going perfectly, no disturbances. Now I wonder why it has gone so quite? What are they up to?

{On the monitor they seem to be moving slowly, gradually each of them are slowing down.}

Paskin: Not long now.

Ruscoe: Have any of you noticed something?

Dr. Harker: What?

Ruscoe: I don’t know, it’s on the tip of my tongue. Something wrong in here.

Paskin: Old fool! Nearly through Max?

Max: A few more millimetres, Mr Paskin.

Ruscoe: Like everything’s getting harder for me?

Dr. Harker: What do we do when he gets out?

Paskin: If he gets out! I locked his door from outside, he ain’t going anywhere!

Ruscoe: Yes, soon that Mr Phillips will see what we have felt!

{Phillips smiles evilly.}

Phillips: Fools. You all deserve your new fate, every one of you-fools to the end!

{On the screen they are all moving slowly.

Paskin: Come… on…. Max?

Dr. Harker: Time… for… Phillips… to…pay!

Phillips: Behold the majesty of the vortex crystals! Time is a many wondrous thing Sorcha, it lives within all of us and for them time has run out!

Sorcha: Look! The tides are turning? Fascinating!

Phillips: Enjoy the show Sorcha. Everyone will enjoy the show because it will probably be the last great thing they’ll ever likely to see before the end!

Shock Cut to:
INTERIOR. FREIGHTER.

CYBERNET: Wait. delay order. The humanoid known as the Doctor must not be harmed.>> Link interrupted: Alert. Report!

1st Cyberman: Unknown Commander. Unknown energy readings are registering.

Cyber Com: Continue processing.

2nd Cyberman: Sectors three to eight already affected. Unknown effect closing on our position.

Cyber Com: Scout 103 destroy only the hostile beings. The Doctor must be unharmed.

CYBERNET: Destroy… only the… hostile…. The Doctor...>> Confirm orders? Receiving low level interference in communications array.>>

Cyber Com: The hostile humanoids must be destroyed, the Doctor stunned and returned to Cyber Control for full analysis.>>

CYBERNET: …humanoids must be destroyed… the Doctor…>>
Orders confirmed. Destroy the humanoids.>>

Shock Cut to:
EXTERIOR. ROCKY PLAIN.

The Doctor: Look Mr Grell if you help me back to the ship I’ll promise to drop all charges on both your heads.

Grell: Charges? What charges?

The Doctor: Well I do have friends in high places? And am a strong upholder of the law. Let’s see now: One destruction of a space station, theft of assorted alien artefacts, all the deaths of the people aboard the station, temporal involvement in the affairs of others… need I say more, all in all together with the others I’d say you have over five life sentences!

Grell: Now listen here I’m the one with the gun! No more charges permanently. You think you can threaten us with your words? Doctor this is it! We’ll carry out our mission and get paid handsomely and no one is going to stop me, not even you!
You- the one who cut me down with laser fire on the battlefield, the one who imprisoned my mate on Corastarr! You- so defenceless, so weak!
Right at my mercy.
Now for all those who’ve suffered because of you!

The Doctor: It wasn’t me? Now look here, you’re the one who… Never mind! Please the danger we’re in? Wait a moment do you hear something?

{Suddenly a chunk of rock explodes close by with the rattle of a cyber-gun!}

Grell: Mansk! What is it?

Mansk: I can’t see anything? The whole area looks clear from up here. Wait, behind you Grell! A figure with a gun, possibly a robot?

The Doctor: A Cyberman! Oh no, not here, not now?

Grell: You brought them here! Mansk Kill it!

Mansk: It’s generating an energy field, I can’t cut through it! My weapons won’t lock on?

Grell: Don’t argue, just do it!

{Immediately Mansk opens fire: Streams of bullets shoots through the air and hits the figure and glances off.}

Mansk: Look! Even the bullets can’t find a target, that field repels everything!

Grell: But not one these!

The Doctor: Put that thing away! You use that grenade and you’ll start a landslide and kill us all!

Grell: I told you to shut up! Fine Mansk, here it comes!

{He pulls the grenade.}

The Doctor: No!

Cyber-Scout: Scanning. Internal scan indicates hostile humanoid holding primed explosive device. Target set. Eradicate.
Warning humanoid has thrown primed explosive. Increasing power to armour shielding.

Grell: Down!

{An enormous explosion sounds out!}

Grell: That’s the end of him. Now for you Doctor!

{On the radio Mansk cracks in:}

Mansk: Grell! I’ve still got the interference barrier on the scanner. Confirmed. Target is still there.

Grell: What? Impossible!

The Doctor: Looks like they’ve improved themselves on a few things, enhanced shielding for one thing. Not even that grenade scratched it. You must fall back Grell?

Mansk: He’s right Grell. We must fall back!

Grell: No! We fight here to the death with our prey!

Cyber-Scout: Scan detects unknown bio data in all three life forms. Resistance Denied.

Grell: Not without a fight!

{Another rattle of the cyber-gun and the blast hits closer ground.}

Grell: Very well. Retreat!

The Doctor: Wait. Don’t run! It must be trick of the light or the sand in my face? I could have sworn something’s happening to the air and well… surroundings?
I can’t worry about it! I must get to the TARDIS while I still have the strength.

Cyber-Scout: You will remain still. Resistance is Useless.

The Doctor: Ah! Somehow I’d forgotten about you. If you help me up I’ll gladly go to the your base for interrogation, conversion or conversation if you lot want to gloat or something?

Cyber-Scout: You will be killed. Resistance is useless. You will be killed. Resistance is useless.

The Doctor: Déjà vu, even for you how odd? The air seems thicker? And it seems what’s up with Grell and Mansk? They’re slowing down in pace?

Cyber-Scout: Resistance is Useless.

The Doctor: Of course, something’s wrong with time> I must get to the TARDIS! With only my elbows. No wonder I can’t move that fast, not only with frostbite but time is starting to affect me too! A massive dose of time spillage.

Cyber-Scout: You will be… useless. Resistance is… killed.

The Doctor: The time frames are getting worse, I have to break this cycle!

Grell: Very… well… Retreat!

{The explosion occurs and starts to fade then re-occurs continuing, distorted then finally vanishing.}

The Doctor: I’m not getting any further. Wait? Time has slowed my frostbite? Yes I can just about stand?

Cyber-Scout: Resistance is useless. Killed.

The Doctor: Now for the ship. Oh dear. Mansk and Grell, the effect’s got them well and truly stranded in time. And if I’m not careful it’ll get me too!

Grell: Vv…er… yy… w…e…ll … Retrea…t!

The Doctor: No use, I can hardly run with the distortions? If only they’d ambushed me closer to the ship? These time shifts are getting thicker. I know I can break this cycle!

Cut to:
INTERIOR. TARDIS. CONSOLE ROOM.

Kerri: What’s going on now?

Shadow: Time that wouldst take survey of all the world must have a stop!

Kerri: And I can’t do anything to help him, well at least tell me where the source of this problem is?

Shadow: No, that would be too much for you to know child. Suffice to say it is closer than you think?

Kerri: I’ll fight you, whoever you are I’ll win!

Shadow: I think not child, how can you possibly destroy me? How do you cut open a shadow?

Cut to:
EXTERIOR. ROCKY PLAIN.

The Doctor: Need to concentrate, concentrate! Yes my legs are freeing up. Now for the ship.

Cyber-Scout: Humanoid will be killed. Resistance is useless. Eradicate.

The Doctor: I’ve freed him up by accident? Run you fool!

Cyber-Scout: Eradicate.
The Doctor: Losing concentration! Time… shift… affecting… me! Must… get to…

{The Cyberman fires. But the discharge travels slower until it hits him.}

The Doctor: … No!

Shock Cut to:
INTERIOR. TARDIS.

Kerri: It can’t happen!

Shadow: Time is gone and space remains relative or not? The Doctor is finished where he floats.

Kerri: What? What do you mean?

Shadow: The time outside has slowed down to a point that within this area it appears to be standing still. Quite brilliant, don’t you think girl?

Kerri: You mean anyone out there is stuck? And with that cyber-blast he’s…!

Shadow: Dead for a ducket dead!

Kerri: You mean he’s frozen at the point of his death! How long will this last?

Shadow: A second or a year, a nano point or a millenium it matters not because he is, always will be finished! At last the Doctor is dead, THE DOCTOR IS DEAD!

Kerri: No, no it can’t end like this! No!
