I thought this writer might be on the other-worldly h2g2 site, but as he wasn't I thought it high time he got the exposure here. For those not familiar, John King has written such works as "Human Punk", "Headhunters" and other novels that loosely reside in the genre of the football-novel, a sort of subterranean Nick Hornby (apparently). One scene describes the viewpoint of a Brit in Germany who has gone over (ostensibly for the game) for "the kicking". He sees a German fan being worked over by some other Brits, and though he doesn't go to help he describes in detail his mixed state of humanitarian compassion for the injured German (the fan goes to his aid AFTER the other Brits have left him for dead), and his hooligan persona. If anyone has heard of John King or he himself is on here (Love your work) or has similar satisfaction from someone's writing about the juxtaposition between vastly conflicting emotional states (see above), I'd be interested in your responses.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
