5th grade? what age is that? you have a different system to us.

ours is.
3-5 nursery, but isnt necessarily held in a school and isnt compulsory.
5-7 infants, which is.
5-10ish juniors.
10ish-16 seniors or upper.
18>>> college and/or university.

the children start school in a reception class and then go into year 1, so by the time they leave school, they are in year 11/12

wow... uh.. we have
kindergarden (it is sorta school...) ages 5-6
1st grade ages 6-7
2nd grade ages 7-8
3rd grade ages 8-9
4th grade ages 9-10
5th grade ages 10-11
6th grade ages 11-12
Thats Elementary school... then we have Jr high school, or middle school
7th grade ages 12-13
8th grade ages 13-14
Then (some schools have middle school, 7th through 9th grade) but here, we have High school:
9th grade (freshmen) 14-15
10th grade (sophtmores) 15-16
11th grade (Juniors) 16-17
12th grade (Seniors) 17-18
And after your a Senior, you graduate, then go to colage and all that great stuff... so lets see.. i was 11! in 5th! wow... i feel old nowsmiley - erm

its my 50th birthday in april and im trying to think of something different to do to celebrate.

i cant afford a big family party.
i would like to go out for the day, but cant think where.
and there are others to consider who will spoil the day if its not to their liking, despite it being MY day.

think i will just stay in bed all day and stay 49 smiley - rofl
