Wellies

Billy Connolly once sang: "if it wasnae fer ya wellies, where would ye be...you'd be in a hospital or infirmary, cause you would have a dose o' the flu, ar even pluracy, if ya didn't have yar feet, in ya weeeeeellllies!". Now just how accurate is that then, Mr Connolly? Hmmm? Hmmm? Not very I think you'll find. To my knowledge, the 'flu' or even 'pluracy' (I don't even know if that's how you spell it), cannot be caught simply by not wearing rubber Wellington boots. Yes, they keep out the dirt, and yes they keep in the smell to a certain extent, and they're swell and everything else, but don't give us this doom and gloom picture of a country disabled and bed-ridden because of an inappropriate choice of footwear. That's just silly!
