She began her racing career at the early age of 11,when her father was watching some flying,she managed to start the engine of his car and nearly completed a lap of the track unnoticed until the front tyre punctured!
Ivy drove a 1912 vauxhall at the first brooklands meeting after the war and in 1922 won the duke of york long distance handicap race in a 1912 coupe de l'auto sunbeam,she went on to win many races,hill climbs and speed trials.
