Be wary of free advice. If it was any good they'd charge for it, although that doesn't stop some less scrupulous people who will even try and sell you bad advice, normally in the form of large, impressive looking, self help books, or a series of cassettes.

Advice is usually dispensed by Experts or parents. Usually neither of which are experts in the subject they're giving you the advice on.
