A person or thing1 to which you pledge your life2, because it seemed a good idea at the time, and because you have a problem with too much sanity cluttering up your mind.
1We don't want to offend anyone by pinning down a specific gender to this term. Also, there may come a time when people take furniture as their brides, to have and to hold. So let's just leave it open as "person or thing" to be safe. This could be construed as a jibe against human wives who behave so outrageously as to deserve a classification below human, as a creature or "thing." But really I meant furniture.2"Life" give or take several decades. The word "life" in this definition should be used as loosely as it is in U.S. prison sentences. Not that marriage and prison have anything in common. Pure coincidence. ;-)
