Hi, I have some friends interested in starting a coffeshop/cool place to hangout, and I thought wouldn't it be great to have free wi-fi for the place (not too pricy for the setup, once you consider the cost of starting a business, so the only real cost is the broadband).

Anyway, this article is very useful, but is there any way of setting things up so that people with wi-fi laptops/PDAs/etc can connect through the coffeshop without having to do the whole specifying the IP address? I know it's not hard, but it'd be nicer if 1st time customers didn't have to spend a couple of mins with one of the staff to configure their machine.

Thanks,
Bez

(one of these days I might get that smiley)

Yes, if you tell the wireless router to automatically assign IP addresses, any users entering the wireless hotspot will not have to go through the tedious setting up IP addresses stage. It's just handy to have the ability to define specific IP addresses for certain computers, so that someone wandering through with a laptop or wi-fi enabled PDA doesn't get assigned the admin address.
