Fantastic article ... one thing though - I'm pretty sure in the "Ou est la plume de ma tante" sketch, the correct response is:
"La plume de ma tante est pres de la chaise de ma tante" or to translate directly "the pen of my aunt is near to the chair of my aunt" ... as well you know.
As I said though, brilliant

Agreed. Just one tiny point. Was it actually 1981 when he first did the Ediburgh Festival? This would have made him 19. And wouldn't have been so new in the early 1990s.

I do believe he did make an appearance that year - he seems to have been a bit of an early starter! (Though I also read that he made no impact and would like to forget the 1980s - I'm sure he's not the only one...)
Congratulations on a superb entry, Witty Ditty, one that had us laughing out loud in the office! (And good luck with those babies )

First time I remember seeing him was on the Just for Laughs show on Channel 4 - highlights of a comedy festival in Canada (my memory says Montreux, my brain says it must be Montreal). He was performing the "Singe est dans l'arbre" and "raised by wolves" sketches but I'd struggle to date it - though I'd say late 80s.
