The real Arthur Dent

1 Conversation

Many years ago I used to work in the National Library of Scotland. One day whilst walking through the shelves of antique books I came across a book entirely by accident. The author was Arthur Dent and the title ?
"Ye Plain man's guide to the Heavens".

I believe it was dated 1634 or 1684. I suspect Douglas Adams came across this in another library somewhere?

I have waited 30 years to pass this information on to someone. What a relief! Take this information and may it serve you well.....

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
