I seem to remember there are about 8 genes for eye colour (according to the genetics teacher we had for A-level biology) I´m not a geneticist or an ophthalmologist, and neither was he, so I could be wrong!

There is thought to be only one gene for eye colour. But there are several different versions of that gene in the population (they are called alleles) hence the different eye colours.

Well even though I wrote this article, I'm naff at biochemistry so I have no idea which one is correct. I don't even know if there is an 'official' answer. I'm back in uni next week so I'll ask someone who should know.

Oh yes, of course!! Alleles! That´s the one!! It was about 5 years ago in A-levels, so I couldn´t quite remember.....alleles aren´t a pharmacologists strong point....I stand corrected!
