I wrote this partly because mental illness is still a taboo in this country. We simply don't have adequate support from the NHS and there is far too much ignorance out there contributing to the problem. I guess things are improving (at least suicide isn't illegal anymore heh). But there's a long way to go before I'll ever consider seeing a psychiatrist again as none of them (and I've seen about six in the course of my treatment) seemed to know what they were dealing with, and on occasion made matters worse. I KNOW I am not alone in this experience.
