A Conversation for Depression Survival - a Personal Account

I'd just like to say that this is one of the most moving pieces of writing I've read in some time - brave, moving, and honest.
I've been lucky enough never to have suffered from serious depression (only being "down" for a few weeks at a time), but I have friends who have. What I found particularly interesting in this entry is what might be called the "help me / don't help me" paradox of depression.
Like most blokes, I'm happy to listen and help where I can, but I'm less good at being proactive and asking the question rather than changing the subject, if you see what I mean. From what this article says, perhaps people should be less reticent about asking the question through fear of interfering.
Best wishes
Otto
